First printed in 1952, the King James Version Longprimer Bible is a sumptuous, traditional reference setting of the Authorized Version. Developed by Oxford University Press and now published exclusively by R. L. Allan, it has for many years been our flagship Bible, renowned the world over for its clarity of type and our beautiful bindings.

The new Longprimer Sovereign edition retains the same clear, bold type as the standard Longprimer but is printed on a 38gsm writable Bible paper with the highest levels of opacity, and increased margins (one inch on outside and bottom edges) to show the text block off to greatest effect and further enhance the reading experience.

This Silver Line edition has blue under silver page edges, silver embossing on front and spine and around the inside of the case, and silver ribbons.

Navy Blue Highland goatskin with full yapp and BLUE under SILVER page edges, leather-lined in dark blue with double SILVER gilt lines inside, three SILVER ribbon markers, with presentation pages and family record in new improved design, dictionary of proper names, subject index, concordance, 32 pages lined writing paper and 16 pages of Oxford Bible maps.

The most awesome Bible I own. It is thick large and breathe taking. I see it is sold out and pre-ordering is in effect. Better put your name in now for pre-order. I have several other Allans and Schuyler Bibles but none this gorgeous. It has 3 silver ribbons, Bold text, page numbers on the bottom, dictionary of scripture proper names, a subject index, concordance, and 15 maps and 15 pages of lined paper in the back. Also seems to have line matching on the text block. Almost no bleed through. Have to really look to see any bleed through. Closest to perfection of any Bible I own or know of. Also has a full Yapp cover. It is also an Allan first edition. The cover is a dark blue. The pages are silver over blue edges.

This bible has a lot of good features, first of all being a “Longprimer” is beautiful and elegant. The craftsmanship is at the top of the market, the “Highland Goatskin” leather is gorgeous, the finest paper, the art gilt is stupendous and very well done, the bold type on this text makes a difference as far as readability concerns, the increased margins make the text to look even more beautiful and readable. This edition of the “Longprimer” even though is 10% bigger is not as heavy or “big” as one might think, in fact It does not look like block at all, I think this editions retains all the beauty of the 53. I personally am happy specially because of the quality of the paper improvement, it is just superb!

I have purchased several Allan, Schuyler and Cambridge Bibles. I keep going back to Allan and let me tell you, none compare to this one! Not even other Allans. Why can’t they make all Bibles of this quality? The leather cover is so soft. The type is as close to perfect as you can get and then it’s printed on this special paper (?). The full yap and extra margins just point to elegance. It’s so “perfect” I’m almost afraid to use it….

I forgot to say that with really good high quality Bibles coming out with thicker pages it sure makes it easy to read quicker. I absolutely despise super thin paper in a Bible. Takes several days to get them apart but not on this Bible. Just start reading it. Also got a brown one. Told the blue one I liked it best and think I hurt the brown ones feelings. Just kidding. Both are rated by me as 91/2. Well! nothing is perfect.

I really appreciate the larger font of the text. However,I cannot understand the references being too small! To read them I need reading glasses. Little thought must have been given to this obvious need; as the same eyes are reading both references and text. Perhaps less border and bolder references, PLEASE? Otherwise beautiful and well made! Thank you.

One of the most elegant bibles on the market today. So luxurious that I am almost afraid to take it out of the box and use it.

OK, I admit it. I had to wait a while to do this review because I was so impressed with this Bible. I didn’t want to slobber all over this review. I had just recently received a longprimer in NB before stepping up to get this one. All I can say is, is what I have already said about the 53, squared; and add WOW for this 63 NB silver line. Maybe it’s the ex sailor in me, but I find this color to be very beautiful, not to mention the silver over blue gilding. Obviously the text block is almost perfect. So, again; WOW.

Yes, the sailor in me is what provoked me to purchase this beautiful bible! The blue/silver combination is very beautiful. I am so pleased with this bible that it will be my family heirloom bible. I will purchase a “user” bible to preserve this beauty!!
