A combination of skilled design and the use of a remarkably compact typeface lead to acclaim for the Pitt Minion format in achieving the difficult feat of being both easy to carry and easy to read. The first Pitt Minions were only available in the King James Version but in recent years Cambridge has developed the original concept by creating new Pitt Minion Bibles in a range of modern translations. These are produced using a special digital font which has similar characteristics of compactness and readability to the original typeface.

Now, the KJV Pitt Minion Edition has been freshly typeset using this modern font and current layout, which presents the text in paragraph format. The Bible text is supported by a Reader’s Companion (a cross between a concordance and a dictionary) and 15 newly designed color maps.

The Bible is just what I ordered it for. Small, well built and made to take with me when I go out. I cannot complain. After seeing reviews on Youtube about it, it fit what I was looking for. A small travel companion that I can have with me that doesn’t take up a lot of space. Well done Cambridge and Evangelicalbible.com for getting it to me quickly. Highly recommended.

The quality of the binding, text and overall material is excellent; though, there are a couple of disappointments with this Bible. One, it is not the same text as the Concord; for example, the TBS classic is a small Bible that has the same paragraphs, pages … etc. it is basically a smaller version of the Concord. As I understand it, there are other Pitt Minion translations were the Pitt Minion and the larger version has the same text layout where it is possible to turn to the same page number in each Bible and find the verse in the same place on the page, this is not a deal breaker. One ribbon marker verses 2 is disappointing, all high quality Bibles should have at least 2 ribbon markers. What is most disappointing is the Zondervan references, it is as if this KJV was outsourced; thus, the expected KJV features that are in the Concord are not present in this Bible: the references are not as complete; for example, in the Concord the reference for Mat 9:9 says: “to ver 13 Mk. 2.14-17; Lk. 5:27-32”; whereas, the Zondervan reference for Mt 9:9 says: “Mark 2:15; Luke 5:27”, it is close; though, it does not give the full range of verses, still not a deal breaker. Last and most disturbing is the advertisements plugging modern Bible versions, this can be a sore spot for some KJV advocates, the “A Reader’s Companion” states: “Sixth, a small number of entries relates to the history and particular feature of the Authorized Version, and to other biblical translations related to or derived from it.” Then there is a very controversial entry for the ASV and AV relating the two as if they are cousins, some people might find this offensive as did the general Christian community when the ASV was introduced in such falsehood. I find myself picking up the TBS classic and using it as the companion for the Concord in preference to this Bible.

Even though I have the Clarion, I also have this bible (in the KJV) black goatskin version and love it. It’s small and super compact. I love the feel of it in my hands. The text is small, so I wear my glasses and use it in good light, so it’s just fine. It’s a good carry bible, great for taking to a bible study, and it’s a high end quality bible that you feel like you can use every day. The color of the paper is really nice, easy on the eyes, the text is a great font, very clear. The red text of Jesus’ words is a perfect color. This bible was well thought out, like many other Cambridge bibles. It recommend it if you are ok with the smaller font. Otherwise the Clarion may be better, but it’s a bit thicker. That may be why I have both .. I use them for different reasons, and that works for me. Recommended.

I also recommend EvangelicalBible.com. We have purchased several bibles from them; Allan, Cambridge, and a Crossway. They are a great source for high end usable bibles and their customer service is personal and kind.
