    (verified owner):

Very disappointed! Positive points: The font size is certainly easy on the eyes and the print is dark enough to provide adequate contrast to the semi-adequate bible paper. Negatives: Ghosting is certainly noticeable. The concordance is meager. One, very thin ribbon marker. The big \”deal-breaker\” is the alleged genuine leather cover…Very rigid, little to no flexibility. It looks, feels and responds like your run of the mill, cheap bonded leather. If the cover is indeed genuine leather, then it must be a micro-thin layer glued over some type of a cardboard insert. I wish I had not purchased this product but I have waited too long now to return it.

    (verified owner):

The 12.75 font is a real plus and easy to read for older eyes. Having a Bible in modern English is a breath of fresh air compared to the KJV. The font in the concordance however is very small and hard to read. Also, the concordance is very small compared to concordances we’ve seen in other Bibles. The two main complaints about this Crossway Bible are the very stiff leather cover and the lack of sewing around the edges. Crossway used glue instead, a bad idea for a leather bound Bible. Only about two weeks after receiving these Bibles, the corner binding of one of them started to come apart. These large print Bibles were meant to replace other Bibles which we have used for more than 40 years without any problems. If you are in the market for an ESV BIble, consider spending a little more money and purchasing one from another publisher. This Bible could have been done better for a few dollars more. But Crossway has cut too many corners with this edition.

Unlike the previous two reviewers, I was quite happy with this Bible. I wanted a “throw around” Bible that was rugged. I’m a seminary student, and I don’t like taking premium Bibles to class or carrying them around in my backpack.

This Bible reminds me of a “classic” Genuine Leather Bible you might have purchased 25+ years ago. No, it’s not a limp goatskin binding, but the leather seems thick enough, and sturdy enough — and mine smelled nice as well. Also, I found the gilt line a nice touch. My ribbon was nice and thick, in fact it was a nicer ribbon than what is in my Cambridge Clarion. Also, I really liked the Bible paper — it’s nice and thick with minimal bleed through. Perhaps I have a newer printing as mine came in a newer style box (without the clear window, and with the newest, latest graphics). Overall, no it’s not a 5-star Bible, but it’s adequate as a utilitarian every day Bible that you don’t worry about getting messed up.
