The ESV Large Print Thinline Reference Bible combines the popular Thinline Bible features with larger type and cross-references in a highly readable Bible for all uses. Though the Bible text is presented in generous 10.5-point type, the Large Print Thinline Reference Bible is close to one inch thin. In addition, cross-references are located in the bottom corner of each page, making this Crossway’s most affordable large print reference edition.

This is a nice quality bible for the price I paid. The bible opens flat, and the cover is quite flexible and soft. The leather is matt black, has an even grain and is folded to leave a yapp of approximately .25 inches. The gold gilt on page edges is quite nice, smooth, gleaming. The size of this bible is a nice compromise between a hand bible of the “Cameo” size and a full sized large print reference bible. The text size, at 10.5 pitch is large enough to make the larger format worth while. This thin line format is arrived at by using a thin paper in addition to the medium sized 10.5 font. As such one will notice the ghosting from text on the other side of each page. This is especially noticeable where red text has black text behind it as well as in the poetry sections where the back of page shows through the white areas. The text is well line matched, however in my copy the darkness of the printing varies just a bit from page to another. This text block was printed in China and is of reasonable quality, however do not confuse this bible with some much nicer and more costly products that Crossway offers.
I find the font used for the references at the page bottoms to be a poor choice. The font is taller than many however the very thin lines that make the letters are harder to read than those in many other fonts used for references in other bibles.
The two column text is in paragraph form with references located at page bottoms. This is nice for a reading bible. However due to the very narrow page margins and very thin paper, paragraph format, and less than optimum cross reference font and location I would not recommend this as a study bible. I bought this as my first ESV and intended it for large picture reading. Should I really like this translation and wish to use it for study, I will buy another edition more suited for study.
Overall the quality of the cover, and text make this a good value. This is good bible, for someone who wants to use it, and not be anxious while doing so.
