Excellent Bible. Clear, dark font. Layout is great. Cover is a sturdy, durable leather.

This is definitely the perfect text block for the NASB95. Verse by verse format but still marking paragraphs using clear, bold verse numbers. When a paragraph “cuts through” a verse, it uses bold letters to mark it. It has the full set of translator notes and cross-references. It is a black-letter edition. It’s not line-matched but the paper is decent enough to not have too much bleed-through. The paper has a slightly bluish color which is noticeable in the gutter.
My only complaint is that the pig skin is too stiff and there is simply too many card stock pages added both in the front and the back unnecessarily. It feels like it will last forever though. I prefer this edition to my 5 times more expensive Schuyler PSQ NASB95 because this is just a superior text block.

I am very well satisfied with this Bible, and the service of evangelicalbible.com. After researching Bibles for an extensive period of time, I settled on this Bible and was pleasantly suprised with its quality in every respect. The clear print and larger font, along with cross references, maps, and concordance all add up to exactly what I was looking for. It should be noted for all reading this post, that this Bible does not feature any extensive commentaries within its pages, only cross references, which is what I was looking for.

The seller, evangelicalbible.com delivered it within the time given (5-10 days) and the packaging took every precaution against damage.

This Bible represents an excellent value. You will not find a floppy cover at all as you would with a goatskin. This genuine leather is quite stiff, but it lays flat and holds it’s position in your hand. I didn’t expect to appreciate that, but I have. The print is also well done. The paper is good and there is very little ghosting or page curl. I wanted to introduce myself to the NASB before making a decision to pay for a premium edition. This edition has fit that bill nicely!

I wanted a NASB before the coming new edition of 2019. Thankfully evangelicalbible had this leather bound copy at a reasonable price. The leather smell is strong, but that’s just reassuring that it really is leather and not thin plastic.
The print is clear, some ghosting, and not sure that the thin paper will hold up using pigma microns. The quality of materials may be due to its being printed in China. Apparently the NASB by Lockman Foundation used to be printed in America and the change to China has made a difference in the final product.
However, this Bible was the one a friend of mine wanted. It is a step up from the tiny, plastic award Bible she had been struggling to see, and she was delighted with the Bible and surprised at the gift. Her delight is really all that matters in the end. Now I need to get another one for myself to have as a reference tool and possibly my next translation to read cover to cover next to my KJV. It is worth having and has good features like a concordance and translators notations, a good purchase. Thanks again evangelicalbible.

I have mixed feelings about this bible. Right out of the box it felt stiff and the bible had an odd smell. The font size was nice, and the pages were thin as noted in other reviews. That being said, after a day of handling it and opening the binding, turning every single page..I noticed that an entire sewn booklet was missing from the middle. The end of Psalms, all of Proverbs, and the beginning of Ecleastices was missing. I know this is a quality control issue from Lockman, so I am not faulting evangelicalbible at all.

Received my bible just three days after order and came packaged very well! The bible is full sized but not heavy, sturdier than I expected and I think if I put it down and let a tank run over it the bible would be fine. I applied and buffed a layer of mink oil into the leather cover and it softened up nicely. This is just a well constructed, portable, functional reading bible with an adequate number of cross references and large enough print so I can easily read it! Exactly as described and the price can’t be beat!

I love this Bible. Great translation and a wonderful, durable Bible that will last for generations.

I had the opportunity to extensively use the Bible today and it isn’t as bad as I had first observed. The paper doesn’t seem to be as bad as I had thought and the font is easy on the eyes. The Bible feels good in the hand and will lie flat when reading at a table or desk. I hope that it will endure everyday use and will last several years before it needs to be rebound.

I received my Chinese Bible today. This was a total disappointment as the description does not mention that this was a heathen-printed Bible. Evangelical Bible should have provided this information. I knew this was Chinese as soon as I took the cover off the box and saw the cheaply produced cellophane.

The paper does not look to be good quality. It feels flimsy compared to the two other Bibles I have from Evangelical Bible. There is line matching, though, and this is a good thing. While the cover is genuine leather, it is glued together and there is an obvious defect, though minor. I can see having to have this Bible rebound in a few years.

I will use this Bible in ministry and I hope it holds up.

I concur with all the positive reviews regarding the binding, text, cover, etc., except that I do highlight in mine – a lot. The paper is thin for that when using the liquid highlighters made for Bibles. The ink bleeds through. So it’s best to use a crayon type marker or colored pencil for marking or notation. That is my main issue, and for the price it’s a keeper.

A very nice bible, well constructed with crisp, dark print. In my opinion, the best $35 you will ever spend on a bible. Highly recommended! The bible and evangelicalbible.com.

  13. Nicholas Sommers (verified owner)

Excellent Bible for the price! It feels rough and durable but not cheap. It feels very sturdy and well made. It opens and closes very smoothly with no crackling at all. I think the paper is very nice as well. The print is medium-bold and very crisp. It is very enjoyable to read from. I love this text layout with verse by verse structure and references in the middle. A great reference Bible for the price! EVB shipped fast as always. Thank you.

For $35 this is an outstanding value. Nice bold type that reads easily. Decent paper, maybe not as good as a more expensive Bible, but nonetheless of good quality in my opinion. Yes, the binding is a little stiffer than the Allan NASB I bought (with the same type and pagination), but seems like it will break in just fine. A great buy from Evangelical Bible–it shipped fast and was packed very well.

A Workhorse of Lockman Foundation is the NASB Large Print Ultrathin Bible in Black Genuine Leather.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Lockman Foundation, they are responsible for the New American Standard Bible translation. (NASB) They keep the copyright so it doesn’t get changed. They are not in it for the money. They are a non-profit corporation. The money goes back into making Bibles.
The NASB is my favorite translation because of the accuracy. When you look up Greek words and compare them to how the NASB has rendered them in English, I think you will find that it is the most reliable translation out there. I encourage you to read up on the history of the Lockman Foundation. I am encouraged when I see how God used Dewey and Minna Lockman to spread His word.
This typeset is one of the most popular typesets Lockman Has produced. It is a favorite among the NASB fans. There are plenty of good reasons for this. First it is a pretty good sized font coming in at 10 pt. Second, it is arranged in a double column, verse format, with center column references. Third, it is a modern typeset. It is clear and sharply printed. These are the top reasons why it is so popular.
The text block is smyth-sewn. This means that instead of what is called a, “perfect binding” which is, stacking the papers together, cutting the ends, and then gluing them together at the spine. They stack up pamphlets called signatures. These are stacked up and sewn to signature tapes. Then, they are sewn to each other as well. The spine is sometimes glued to reinforce it. A smyth-sewn binding holds together much longer because the pages are sewn together, and sewn to cords or tapes in the spine. Glued bindings often lose pages from the front and back of the book, as the glue loses its flexibility, and hardens. A sewn binding opens better, and it stays open, once it is opened.
This Bible was shipped to me gratis for review. It arrived packaged in a cardboard box with paper packing. It was not damaged during shipping. It comes in a two piece retail box that should be retained for storage. This Bible looks like it will be heavy, but it isn’t. It is pleasant to hold and read. It isn’t too heavy or big, even though you get a nice size font. The cover is genuine leather, not to be confused with more expensive cowhide/calfskin, or less expensive bonded leather. Genuine leather is a good durable choice in Bible covers. This Bible is case bound. The corners are cut and glued well. The vinyl liner matches the cover in color. The front of the Bible has a presentation page as well as family records pages. These are printed on a glossy paper. Sometimes ink will smudge so make sure if you write in pen on these that you allow the ink to dry before you close it. Maybe pat them with a tissue as well. Then, there is a section about the translation. It is pretty informative. You should read it at least once if you never have. The text of this Bible is as I mentioned before, a double column, verse format, with center column references. The NASB has over 95,000 cross references. This makes it an extremely useful reference Bible. This is a black text edition. That means all of the words are printed in black text. Some Bibles are red letter editions. Those have the words of Jesus printed in red. Well, since the entire word of God is God’s word, we should have it all printed in red, or we could just print it all in black. The paper is decent quality. For the price of this Bible you really do get a lot. There is a pretty good sized concordance at the end. In the back are eight, colored maps printed on the same glossy paper as the presentation and family records pages. I would recommend this Bible for anyone looking for a good reference Bible that will get used. It will provide you with a good translation and a utilitarian functionality. Since it isn’t a premium Bible, and it is pretty tough, you don’t have to be afraid of hurting it. You can purchase them here.

I am very very pleased with this bible. I was really shocked at how fast it came. It came in three days and arrived on a Saturday at that. I also was shocked at just how high quality this bible was for $34.00. It is still shocking just how well this bible is made and put together. The print is awesome and just right in size along with a great leather binding.
