The Turquoise Reference Edition of the King James Bible was created in the 1920s and has stood as a superb and well-loved example of classic Cambridge typographic design for over ninety years. The large format allows the text to be presented in a comfortably readable form using a bold, traditional typeface with cross-references. For this edition, the concordance has been freshly typeset, and the Bible includes the Translators’ Preface, their compelling account of the principles underlying the publication of the KJV in 1611.

Features include:

Brown goatskin with full leather linings.
Red under gold art gilt

I just got in my brown turquoise yesterday. Wow! I love it. The goat skin is beautiful and very flexible. Its built very well. As a pastor, I love the large print with semi-bold font. This will make it so much easier to read in the pulpit and during the hours of study. Also, they finally put some very nice quality ribbons in this bible. My only negative to the other Cambridge bibles I own are the poor ribbons. This bible has excellent ribbons that look great. You wont be disappointed with this purchase.

I received my Brown Goatskin Cambridge Turquoise Bible this past Monday, April 23rd. I have never owned a King James Version before. The time has arrived. I thank the Lord for being able to purchase it.

I am so glad this version became available with this color. Truly, a beautifully hand crafted bible and well laid out. I can read everything with these soon to be 64 year old eyes. No hand crafted faults. Almost perfect, just a couple of slight cosmetic blemishes on the inside liner of the back cover. Nice brown color (almost as dark as my Schuyler dark brown ESV), very soft and unblemished goatskin, super soft quality opaque paper, very readable dark font, quality gold ribbons, large maps, Dedication and Translator’s Preface, re-typeset concordance and more.

I wish it had a glossary and a Bible dictionary like the Concord (which I do not own but maybe someday I might be able to get a goatskin Concord version).

Having used an RSV 1978 Study bible for 7 years, an NIV 1985 Study bible for 33 years, a Schuyler Quentel ESV in January of this year and, now, the KJV Turquoise version, I am quite content with this purchase an will concurrently study the ESV and KJV Turquoise.

One more thing. The family at Evangelical Bible (Beth, Karen and Kathleen and others) took whatever time was needed to answer my questions. The staff took great care in creating, packing, shipping and keeping me in the loop of the purchase – Thank you!

    Blessings to all!

This Bible is even better than I expected. I have owned quality Cambridge Bibles from the 60’s and 70’s, and this is the best quality Cambridge Bible that I ever seen. The best thing about the Turquoise edition is the excellent text. I have recently used both the Longprimer and Canterbury. In my opinion, the Turquoise surpasses them in clarity and readability. Goatskin cover, leather lined, India paper, etc… are all great features because it means the Bible will hold up longer under constant use, but the WORDS are the most important thing about the King James Bible because they are the words of God (Ps. 12:6-7; Prov. 30:5-6; Matt. 4:4; 24:35; 2 Tim. 3:16-17)! Let me encourage you to be a Bible student (2 Tim. 2:15), not just a Bible collector.

Have you believed the gospel of the grace of God (1 Cor. 15:1-4)? Salvation is by grace through faith in the finished work of Christ, plus nothing (Eph. 2:8-9). If you are trusting any works you can do, you haven’t trusted Christ (Eph. 1:13).

Nice Bible really love the brown goatskin best reading bible I own perfect size red letters good shade of red great ribbons paper seems a little thin but no bleed through or glare will probably not be a problem helps keep the Bible thinner whitch I like ready to use out of the box fast shipping good packaging only problem it almost too pretty to use real nice workmanship on Bible (well pleased)

I own many Allan and Schuyler bibles, and while they are all high quality, the Turquoise Cambridge is the BEST!
The font, paper, and suppleness of the goatskin are superb. I was blown away when I received it.
Thank you Cambridge for bringing back this bible and for making it available through Evangelical Bible in such a beautiful brown color.

Got my new Cambridge Turquoise KJV Bible in brown goatskin yesterday and it is perfect in every way. I have worn out 2 of these bibles in the past and have 2 of other editions (2005-9) which I have kept in reserve as I didn’t think Cambridge was ever going to make these available again.

This bible is an improvement over my previous ones. I like the cover better with the ribs and being rounded a little and not glued to the spine as the older ones were. Also it has a little bit of a “yapp” which helps with pages not catching on the inside of the cover and making quite a mess as on one of my bibles. Also I see no evidence the goatskin portion of the cover is any thinner than before as someone mentioned. It seems the same. And with the leather inside cover the overall cover is more stiff or substantial, but in a good way and still quite flexible.

The print offset misalignment between the transition from black to red letter text seems to be gone. This occurred beginning at Matthew 22 and happened off and on quite a bit in the older texts.

The paper seems perhaps a little thicker and very nice. The print is bold and the red does not appear washed out. The print quality seems consistent throughout the bible. This is very important to me as I read the bible a lot.

The ribbons look much nicer than in the pictures. The gold is very rich looking and not so yellow as the pictures or videos show. With perhaps a brownish gold tint.

The inside page and inside cover are both brown which is a nice touch.

The binding feels very solid and as I read with my bible propped up on a stand the pages don’t tend to sag down near as much as in the old versions.

I can’t find one flaw. I think this is about as close to perfection as this bible is going to get.

In my previous review I was in a rush and made at least one mistake. The offset misalignment between the words in black and words of Jesus in red still appears in the new text at least in my new Cambridge Turquoise KJV in brown goatskin. I am reading in Mark around chapter 8 and if you look closely at those verses which contain both black and red lettering in the same line in many cases you will see the red letters lower than the black text. Mk 7:20 Mk 8:3 & 5. This is just to me an idiosyncrasy of the this bible’s text and most would not notice it unless it is pointed out to them. In fact I see no reason to deduct a star for this. God bless.

The font on the copy I received was not good. It was light in some areas, and dark in others. This makes it harder to read. There are also imperfections in the font where it looks like the ink is missing. I’m not sure if I got a bad copy, or they are all like that.

There is something very special about about this bible that is hard to quantify. Sure…it is supple and very lovely in your hand like so many other high quality bibles but it is much, much more than this that sets it apart in my mind. The antique typeface, the spacing of the print, and yes, yes the red letters combine to create a reading experience unequaled by any other bible in my collection. You just can’t seem to put this beauty down. You will find yourself rediscovering verses that made your heart sing so long ago and the shear joy of hearing God,s sacred word speak to you from these pages will make the price forever seem trivial. The size, weight and rather long for its width proportions are absolutely perfect. Don’t wait. Get one now while you can. You will not be disappointed.

This is my favorite KJV Bible by a mile.

After I bought this, I sold my 53 because I suspected I would never use it again. The typesetting on the Turquoise is superior (in my opinion) to the Longprimer, Brevier Clarendon, Cameo, and Concord. It is also a vintage, yet refreshing, alternative to the more modern Canterbury editions (which, for the record, also have better typesetting than the aforementioned editions). This might also be the best verse-by-verse typesetting I’ve seen in any Bible. Period.

I typically don’t enjoy red-letter text, but the Turquoise has me reevaluating that stance. It’s the best red-letter printing out there. Some might prefer three ribbons, but I think two is the perfect number for this edition.

As far as color is concerned, I bought brown because I already own other black and blue Bibles. The brown and gold combo is warm and welcoming.
