Can’t review just yet but I will say I am really stoked about getting this Bible in mid to late June

As noted in an earlier review, the shade is darker than the illustration (the photo online as of 12/22/20) but it is nicer (I think), being darker, more like brick red. The Personal Size Canterbury page gives a better idea of what this Bible looks like color-wise. The navy blue lining and the silver over blue art gilding complement the cover well and make for a truly beautiful Bible. The Canterbury font is among the most attractive and readable, in design and size, you will find today. I suggest you read the description for this editions features and the other Canterbury reviews to judge the Canterbury’s quality. Reviews are only opinions but in mine, the Firebrick Red Canterbury merits 5-stars.

The photos of this firebrick are not a good representation of the actual color which is a couple hues darker. The photographer photographed the Bible in different lightning situations of which the studio shots (with the book surrounded completely in white) over exaggerates the red cover. Also, I noticed he likes to tweak the photos in some shots during post production using Adobe photoshop or the like.
Back to the book. It’s a whole lot thinner from the previous editions of the Canterbury from 2017-2018. My very first Canterbury (2017) was a Green paste down calfskin cover with 36 gsm (grams per square meter) which had a beautiful faint creamy, beach sand color which this newer edition does not feature. I miss it.
When Schuyler in their infinite wisdom made the decision to forego the 36 gsm paper and opted for this thinner yet opaque paper the reader loses a bit of substantial tactile volume that was characterized in the thicker 36 gsm. The newer paper is way too thin but that’s because they wanted to slim down what was already a “hefty” Canterbury and make it more manageable and portable. So, there had to be a compromise.
I almost wished I had got the only black goatskin in 36 gsm that Evangelicalbible currently is selling because turning the pages would be heck of a lot easier and that sand color was a superb pairing with the Canterbury edition.
Despite the trade off to make this book more slender the end product is nothing short of excellence. Smooth paper. Easy to read bold font. Line matching. Gorgeous ribbons. Interior gilt line for aesthetic accent. Worlds premier binding and printing. Translators to the reader. Gorgeous ribbons. And flawless goatskin cover in a deep firebrick red.
If this book was a quarter inch thicker because of the older 36 gsm I would love it. However, the word of God is truly what matters here.

I’d like to say that this is my first high end bible I have ever owned. When I received my bible in the mail and opened up the box, I was blown away by the quality of this bible! Hands downs the best quality I have ever had in a bible. Everything about the Bible was accurately described and I was very pleased. It is very hard to mentally purchase something that expensive without putting your hands on it first. But after months of procrastination I finally decided to purchase this bible and I have no regrets about it after seeing it in person. The only thing I found wrong about it was that four or five pages had some unusual wrinkling on them, I’m guessing manufacturer defaults but I can live with it.
