Came home to a most welcoming package today! I can now exhale with relief and great joy now that I hold the slate wide margin Canterbury in my hands!!!
The words to describe what Schuyler and Jongbloed has put together can not easily be put into words perhaps, maybe.. WHOOP WHOOP HUHLAHBAJLUHGAZOOOO!

In all seriousness this is what the Canterbury should have been from the get go. This wide margin is the phoenix rising from the embers of bible metamorphosis. All the kinks have been worked out to add on spacious real estate on all four sides. Here are the things they did right that resounds with me.

Firstly, Schuyler did away with the not so intuitive self pronouncing words/names by simply not having it. It seems the original self pronouncing indicators were haphazardly determined by someone who was too lazy to actually make the names and words “self pronouncing”.

Secondly, they reduced the very large 11 point Milo font to 9.5 point which is very manageable on the eyes and I must say it is the most perfect size to grace the pages of any bible being printed now.

Thirdly, the font is dark – more so than it’s original predecessor the regular size Canterbury. Because of this the text has become my favorite to read in any bible class.

Fourth, the paper displays the text on a heavier and very opaque 38 grams per square meter paper helping the extreme readability of the font in turn creating a more relaxed reading experience. It’s not like the original Canterbury with the slightly off white or beige color tint that is super smooth to the touch. This paper is practical – made to endure highlighters, Sakura pens, and pencils use for your note taking.

Fifth, I will admit the goatskin on a Schuyler (especially this one) outshines most if not all goatskin covers from any other bible publisher in the premium bible world.

Sixth, its not that heavy. I know there are bible reviewers on Youtube especially that will talk down large format bibles because they think it would be too cumbersome to take to church. Say what?! Man, its a bible. You are suppose to take it to church. Take it to the park. Take it to someone’s house for bible study. Take it on a camping trip. Take it to the beach and fly a kite. Take it on your first date even. Nothing should stop you from taking any bible anywhere – especially someone on Youtube that can’t hold a 4 to 5 pound bible.

Lastly, the price point as of now is very nice. I know its over $200 but for those who want to commit to a wide margin bible that will let you write notes and just put down your thoughts in a bible format that lends to ample amounts of note taking space I say this bible is right for you. I’m a lover of big bibles so naturally this wide margin is become one of my favorite bibles I now own. Get this bible. It is truly Schuyler’s Magnum Opus in their history of publishing.

Beautiful layout and very soft leather…. don’t worry about the slightly smaller print as the typeset and paper quality make it very easy on the eyes. Very well made Bible.

I am been owning Premium bibles of the RL Allan brand, the Cambridge brand, and even the newest brand, the Thomas Nelson Premier Collection. However, I have not owned a Schuyler brand…until now. I must say, the purchase of the Schuyler Wide Margin Canterbury KJV, Slate Goatskin, is a premium bible…first among equals. The slate goatskin cover exterior, along with the red leather interior, with its font design and ornamental caps to begin each chapter, the type of paper, 38 GSM that it uses, and with its silver art gild edging, with respect of adding the Dedicatory Epistle and the Translator Preface to the Readers, and adding the concordance and maps and lined pages at the end for the owner to write if he or she does not want to write on the bible text itself…all of these features and the more…have given the KJV translation that it deserves to be…truly a distinct and ROYAL translation.

I commend Schuyler Bible Publishing for never ceasing and always striving to publish the KJV translation with the mindset of excellence, that the KJV is a historical piece, a poetic book, a Royal translation, but most importantly of all…The ONLY WRITTEN WORD OF GOD.

    Thank you.

It’s the best, especially for note-takers.

There’s Bibles out there with more space per page. But when you factor in the space per page x number of pages, I haven’t found a Bible with this much space other than interleaved Bibles.

    You’ll love it.

I received my new wide margin Canterbury last week, and was excited about the wide margins and thicker paper. I have a few other bibles from Schuyler, and knew that it would be of the highest quality, but they knocked it out of the park with this one. It has all of the same craftsmanship of their other products, but with a semi yapp, wide margins, and paper that needs to be written on. Hopefully, Schuyler will offer this same design in more editions, which will just give me another reason to expand my collection of beautiful Bibles!

This Bible, particularly in the Slate, is stunningly beautiful and a truly wonderful version of God’s Word. The KJV is already my favorite translation and in this form it is perfect for note taking and really engaging with the text to make it a personal study Bible. I eagerly await being blessed with the opportunity to purchase one.

This is a beautiful Bible! It is a little darker than expected. I love that this edition has red letter text and regular names with no self pronunciation. I love the silver lining detail on the liner, the deep red art gilding, the mirror silver gilding, the beautiful soft cover and lining, the stitching on the cover and lining, the sturdiness of the binding, and the translation to the readers, and the epistle dedicating. However, if I could change something I would 1. Add the name Lucifer to the concordance app folks know in Ezekiel 28, Lucifer is Satan 2 Add the apocrypha 3 Add a dictionary of names with the meanings 4 make the end margins wider for more writing room, and get this in purple (unfortunately that color wasn’t available). This Bible is still a 5 stars all the way.

This Bible is absolutely stunning! The slate was more of a grey-brown color, but looks beautiful contrasted with the dark read leather lining on the inside, the red under silver pages, and the 3 red ribbons. It feels really study in the hands, and a Bible I will enjoy for years and years to come!

This is the Canterbury KJV Schuyler that I have been waiting for since I heard about the launch of the Caterbury. It is perfection. Except for the crooked Jerusalem Cross embossing on the front cover, which is slanted to the right side of the cover, and not in the centre. Allow me to take a star off for that. God Bless!

I received my Schuyler Canterbury WM in slate goatskin… Move over Cambridge Concord WM and Allan Brevier Clarendon 5WM… there is a new player in the argument for best premium wide margin.

While I am not willing to say it is better than the Cambridge or the Allan (so much of that is a matter of preference), I will say you can definitely make the strong argument!

The Goatskin is superb; the craftsmanship is flawless; the paper is exquisite; the complementary color in the lining is incredible; the red under silver art gilt is beautiful!

Some reviews have taken issue with the small print in the concordance… I personally don’t have an issue with it. I actually like the fact that there are margins in the concordance as well. This is a red letter edition and neither my Cambridge nor my Allan are red letter. While not essential, I do prefer red letter.

I love the Schuyler maps and glossary as well! Another premium product by a premium company. Thank you Schuyler and!
