I own numerous premium quality bibles, including the full size Quentel ESV, but I have to say that I’ve not been as thrilled about receiving a Bible since my mother gave me a Cambridge Cameo for my 12th birthday (which was over 50 years ago and which I still have). This Bible is simply a delight in every way. It’s the perfect shade of red, subdued, not flashy. It’s the perfect size to hold and the stiffness of the cover means it doesn’t feel like it’s going to roll out of my hand. The print quality is such that it’s legible even to these old eyes in less than perfect lighting, though I probably wouldn’t want to read for hours in those conditions. Schuyler didn’t skimp on the maps, either, there are 12 in all and printed on matte finish paper, not that ugly glossy stuff. The list of KJV words and their current meanings is a nice addition and, here again, they didn’t skimp. I expected a page or two – there are over 8. This is a Bible that will go with me everywhere, much as my old Cameo did. I’d like to hope that I’ll have this PSQ Canterbury for just as long, but I suspect I’ll be passing it down to a worthy heir instead!

I was stuck between getting this Firebrick Red Zippered KJV PSQ and the Pearl Calfskin KJV PSQ… the Lord told me to get this Firebrick Red PSQ. I’m very pleased with the quality of this Bible. I am KJV only, so I am thankful to have a high quality and durable KJV like this. It has a stiff cover, which is very good because (as said in another review) if it had a floppy cover it wouldn’t be easy to zip open and shut. I’m also very happy that it isn’t a self-pronouncing KJV. I have a Cambridge Cameo in Green Goatskin, and I enjoy that it is floppy so I will keep it for home use. With this Firebrick Red KJV zippered PSQ I don’t have to use a Bible cover in my bags anymore, so no more bent pages from a premium KJV moving around in a cover that isn’t a tight fit. This is a good travel Bible. It lays flat in Genesis and it is also nice to hold for reading. And having it be able to lay flat without breaking it in is good for study. The cross-references are easy to find since this is a Verse-by-Verse, and it is hard to lose your place after leaving a certain verse to look for the reference(s). With it able to lay flat it is easy to use another Bible or a tablet with this PSQ to go to cross-referenced verses so you don’t have to lose your page and take time to go back to said page. Happy with this KJV. If you stay home most of the time and enjoy floppy Bibles and don’t have to transport your Bible much, I’d say go for a normal KJV PSQ.. but if you want a stiff cover with the zipper and you also get out of your house a lot and/or just want the stiff cover, I’d say go for this Firebrick Red KJV Zippered PSQ.

Even better than I had hoped! I have other Schuyler Bibles and two of their journals, so I knew what to expect: top notch quality. What made it better than expected was the color, the finish and the feel of the cover. I wanted an “old school” zipper Bible because they are so handy to travel with, but when I ordered mine, the only color in stock was the Firebrick Red. That made me nervous. Some of the pictures I saw online had a real nice brick color to them, but some of the pictures I found looked bright glossy lipstick red. I closed my eyes and hit the place order button. 48 hours later, I slowly opened the box … yes! It’s a wonderful deep, rich brick color with an excellent matte finish! What a relief!

It’s a great Bible to hold in your hands. The cover isn’t floppy soft like my goat PSQ, which is a good thing because the zipper would no doubt be a mess to use. It has the perfect amount of firmness to it and the zipper moves along nice and smooth. I always properly break in the bindings of all my books and Bibles before using them and right away I noticed the binding was very good and worked great with the cover. It opens and lays flat like a high quality smyth sewn hardback book when on the desk and is very stable when held open in the hand. Love it!

The text block is beautiful, as you would expect from the Canterbury line. One thing I noticed was that the text sample on the website showed self-pronouncing text, which mine does not have. Fine by me, as it sometimes gets redundant. Although the King James isn’t my workhorse translation (I use the Legacy Standard for study and teaching), the KJV takes me back 50 years ago to when I was a kid. There’s a poetic beauty to it. It’s wonderful to pray out of and there’s just something about reading the same exact words and phrases as my grandparents did and those who have gone on before us. I’m grateful to have this elegant edition of God’s Word. And if Schuyler ever decides to make one of these cool little zipper editions in the LSB … all I can say is: “take my money!”

Just received this Bible. It’s pretty stiff compared to my other Schuylers, however I suspect it has to be since it has a zipper. It’s a beautiful color, and perfect for traveling. I love it!
