My wife saw this advertised on Facebook, and mentioned how nice it looked. Little did she know that I had already purchased it for her. It made her cry when she received it. It is a pretty shade of purple with blue under silver pages. The leather is thick and smooth. She’s going to use this a lot, and she keeps opening the box and looking at it. Thank you Schuyler for making God’s word have beautiful, durable bindings! You did it again!

I have a goatskin personal size PSQ and I have to say that the inside cover binding and leather on the goatskin seems far superior to the calfskin I just purchased. I just received the calfskin as an anniversary gift to give my wife thinking the only difference would be a slight difference in leather quality – perhaps just a stiffer leather. But the inside cover material and how it attaches to the binding is of less quality. The goatskin looks like it will last forever. In comparison, the calfskin on the inside cover looks like every other bible off the street that eventually tears at the seam on that inside cover page. Hard to describe but it is just not assembled the same as the goatskin. I wished I’d known this and had not engraved the bible with her name because I would be returning it. My advice, spend the extra for the goatskin. Sigh….

I received the purple calfskin ESV PSQ yesterday, and oh, me! I think this is going to be my second-favorite Bible, just behind my imperial blue goatskin NKJV PSQ. The PSQ’s are just about perfect for a hand-held Bible, imo. This is actually my sixth PSQ purchase–three for gifts, and three (NKJV, NASB, ESV) for me. (I am trying to accumulate enough Bibles with heirloom-quality bindings to leave one to each of my kids and grandkids. I do use them all from time to time, and I like comparing translations–KJV, NKJV, NASB, ESV, NIV.)
I also have a purple KJV, but that purple looks almost brown under most light. I debated whether to order the sapphire blue or the purple this time, but the sapphire looked too bright on the website. I was beyond pleased to see that this calfskin PSQ is actually a lovely deep purple, not purple-brown! The calfskin on this edition is very smooth, and the blue under silver gilding is perfect for the purple. This is truly a beautifully bound Bible. I also love the PSQ’s handy size and very readable print, much easier for my older eyes than most other 8.5 size type. While not leather lined or as floppy as my one goatskin PSQ, the binding seems very sturdy to me, and it’s still supple and lies flat when opened to any place. This Bible is a great value for the quality and price. Of course, it’s the content that’s most precious. It would be hard to go wrong with any of the PSQ’s. Wonderful job, Schuyler, and God bless.

Meant to add to my review, for those unsure about the color: The purple is not as bright as it looks on my laptop screen. Definitely still a deep rich purple, but not a bright purple. I’m wondering if the sapphire would be less bright than it appears, too–??

Did I mention–this is a beautiful Bible that’s so easy to use and read!

I just bought this stunning Purple ESV PSQ and this is going to be one of my go to bibles my (daily driver) I love just how bright & vibrant the purple cover is and with the blue under sliver gilding I didn’t think this combination would work good together but it does. I just love it.
This bible sits on my desk and calls for me to pick it up to read. The font size is prefect clean and crisp not so bold that your eyes start to hurt after reading hours at a time. All in all I highly recommend this bible. My only complaint is the ribbons the are poor quality. If they added better ribbons than this bible would have all the means of deeming it THE BEST ESV BIBLE EVER
