1 review for TBS Reformation Compact Westminster Reference Bible, Brown Calfskin

This is a neat little bible. Bigger than what I would normally consider compact and smaller than a personal size. I like the size. It’s handy without feeling dinky. What can be said about the book block? It’s printed by Jongbloed, so the paper is nice and the print is dark, crisp and clear. The edge gilding is nicely done. The type is very small, but it seems to have all the references of the larger Westminster. The calfskin leather is smooth and soft and smells great, but the covers are bit stiff. All in all a very nice bible. I like the notes on the reformation and the other reformation-themed tidbits at the beginning. The cover printing is even and sharp. I really like the “The Just Shall Live By Faith” inscription on the cover. All in all, a very well made bible at a great price. Maybe a bit small to be a daily reader. Certainly one you’ll want if you are into church history and follow a more reformed theology. (Though I think it’s a little ironic that TBS chose the King James Version for its Reformation Commemorative Edition since the reformers were really responsible for other version of the bible, like the Geneva, and that King James commissioned the KJV bible, in part, because the Geneva bible was too reformed. But TBS only does KJV bible.)
