I wrote a review last year giving the Bible 5 stars but noting that the font was too small for me. I sent the Bible back. I’m writing this review to say that over the past year I’ve grown accustomed to smaller font, and the 8.5 Milo is actually very comfortable. I have gone round and round with different Bibles, and I can’t find a better combination of premium, portable, readable, and very importantly one that is all those things with cross references. Having bought this Bible a second time, I absolutely love it. This one won’t get babied; it’s going with me everywhere. It’s truly the ideal EDC.

PSQ #2! What a classic! Last year I purchased a Marbled Mahogany Calfskin Personal Size Quentel and it’s been an absolute pleasure. I have been wanting to try a goatskin one for a while now for one reason in particular. I love the calfskin cover of my Bible, but it is clear to me that it is a softer plushier leather than goatskin. While I think I actually enjoy the feel of the calfskin better than the goatskin, partly because of its softness and partly because of the finish (marbled) which is fading just a touch on the corners and hubs, I have felt apprehensive to bringing it and using it as extensively as I hoped in fear of damaging it. Meanwhile I have a black goatskin Pitt Minion that has been abused but has held up extremely well. Granted my fear is theoretical and not experiential, but I really wanted to try the goatskin.
Not a bit disappointed. These are two very different animals (pun intended). The grain and feel of black goatskin is very rugged. The grain is deep and beautiful, and I am completely confident in its durability and I think I will have no qualms in brining it with me wherever I go.
The rest is history! If you have had a Quentel or PSQ you know the layout, paper quality, and features are killer. I love a double column format that can visibly be identified immediately as a bible, the cross references at the bottom out of the way, and the red accents in the page header, chapter, and cross references. The black leather with the red leather liner and ribbons give this such a classic look. I love that it is a black text bible (red letter appeals to me neither in concept or appearance, but the accents are great!) I’ve even learned to embrace the notebook paper as place to inject a small bit of myself in my own handwriting with ministry helps and helpful references since there is no concordance. In fact my only nit pick is that there is no concordance. I had considered getting a full size Quentel for the concordance and since I already have a PSQ, but since my life is so on the go and somewhat transitory right now, the size was a must. I have no desk of my own to rest a full size Quentel and the PSQ is the perfect size for holding in the hand. The Milo font appears to enlarge the 8.5 font size and is perfect for me. Everyone is different, and someday I still plan to benefit from the full sized Quentel. Overall, I honestly slightly prefer the overall experience of my calfskin PSQ, but it is so close, and the rugged goatskin ensures that this is my go everywhere Bible. This Bible is premium, have no doubt about it, and I hope to pass it down one day. And be assured that if you find any manufacturing issue with your Bible upon receiving it that Evangelical Bible will take care of you. Well done Schuyler, and thank you Evangelical Bible!
