following up: After 9 months of use there needs to be an update on my review. Constuction-wise this Bible is holding up nicely. The paper is of good quality still but the pages still don’t separate easily. My biggest complaint is why are the Old Testament quotes only italisized in Mark’s Gospel? This is the basis for my dropping of two stars from my original review.

    “SPLENDID!”

Everything ‘I praised & applauded’ in my review of the ‘TOPAZ in dark green goatskin’ that is common to this TOPAZ edition bound in ‘brown calfsplit leather’ applies also…naturally!

The ‘only other thing’ that ‘could & would’ make the ‘TOPAZ series of Bibles’ from CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY PRESS even more desirable would be to offer editions in the ‘various translations’ which also included the ‘Books called Apocrypha’…

The ‘overwhelmingly enthusiastic’ response to SCHUYLER BIBLE PUBLISHERS editions of the REVISED STANDARD VERSION [RSV] which include the ‘Books called Apocrypha’ should be ‘a clear signal’ to Cambridge (…not to mention also that CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY PRESS’s ‘CAMEO REFERENCE’ edition of the KING JAMES VERSION [KJV] with ‘the Apocrypha included’ continues to be in ‘high demand’…apparently ‘selling out’ with every printing of the CAMEO REFERENCE edition…).

It doesn’t ‘go unnoticed’ that the TOPAZ edition of the KJV is tentatively ‘slated’ for release at the end of ‘this year…2021’.

Let’s hope that the ‘KJV TOPAZ’ will also have the option of an edition of the KJV translation of the APOCRYPHA included!!!

    Blessings,
    Bill

This Bible marks my 6th Bible from EB. The first NKJV. I plan to use it as my carry Bible since the cover is a lot stiffer than the goatskin covers. The paper and printing is excellent. The cross references are smaller than the Quentels, but is still ok. The split calf skin has a stronger smell than the goatskins, but that will wear off in time. You can’t go wrong with this Cambridge. Great Bible.

Finally! My quest to find a NKJV that would serve as my main Bible has taken many forms. My first was an Allan single column edition, it was a very nice Bible in many ways, but the bleed-through was awful. Next was the Schuyler Quentel, it was a beautiful Bible, just no room for notes. Next was a Cambridge Clarion, again a very nice Bible, but not fit for pulpit use, would love to see it in a larger form. Next came the Thomas Nelson single column reference, it looked good, but the paper and binding seemed subpar, and sure enough after about three months the stitching on the binding started to loosen and eventually broke. Then I tried the Thomas Nelson preaching Bible, again, nicely done, but the binding began to loosen as it did with the other. And no, I don’t flail my Bibles around, plus the paper wrinkled when it got exposed to any moisture. Then I received an email concerning the Cambridge Topaz. My search is finally over. While not a fan of red letter editions, that is my only negative for this Bible. The paper, the print, the binding, all are excellent. The layout of the page is masterful, a two column Bible with side column references. I chose the calfsplit leather because of previous experience with it on other Cambridge editions, but this is different, not as smooth, almost like that of my first leather football. A great texture and enough flexibility. Thanks to Evangelical Bible for working with me over the years, wonderful people to work with.
