Crossways Omega 80th is absolutely stunning. I would highly recommend getting one! Everything about it is perfect. Thank you Evangelical Bible for amazing customer service.

The cover is very nice. The Bible has a great feel and nice size. The one problem I had was the text. I found it hard to read, too much of a block of text for my eyes. Someone younger might have not had the same problem. I was very disappointed with Evangelical Bible charging me a 15% fee for a Bible that I literally opened, saw the text issue, closed and sent back within hours of receiving it. Their policy says “may be subject to restocking fee”. They mean, “will be subject to a restocking fee”.

4.5 stars this is an excellent bible, the Goatskin is very soft, the print is bold and readable, this bible is thin and light which is a plus for portability. I gave it 4.5 stars while it is nice it’s just a hair behind Schuyler and R.L Allan in terms of overall beauty. Check out more of my bible reviews on YouTube under my name Anthony Caputi.

The 80th Anniversary Omega is without a doubt, the best Crossway bible I have ever owned. The goatskin cover is every bit as nice as any other Bible that I have seen. The text is bold, large, and very easy to read. I have owned two other Omegas from Crossway, the 75th anniversary and the edition between the 75th and 80th. This edition is on a different level of quality. If you’re looking for a great thinline Bible that’s incredibly easy to read, pick one of these up. You will love it!

I have several, less expensive Crossway bibles, but the 80th anniversary edition is by far worth the extra money. The goatskin cover is pebbly but very soft, and the bible itself is very flexible, almost droopy. Feels great in the hand! It has excellent binding and lays flat. I was concerned that the pages may be too thin to mark in, but if you used colored pencils you should not see any bleed-through. These pages actually appear thicker than Crossway’s less-expensive wide margin edition. Overall, this is an excellent purchase.

What can I say that hasn’t been said? It’s a great thinline Bible. I love it. I think having the 4 different colors of ribbons is my favorite part. It really accents it from my other Bibles.

I know that not too many people are aware of the premium Bible market. For those that are, they appreciate the natural hide, edge lined covers, sewn bindings, premium papers, and aesthetics. The price can be the main prohibitive factor for someone seeking to buy their first premium Bible. The Bibles in the premium category usually start out at $150 to $250 price range. The suggested retail price of this Bible is $250. This Bible can be purchased for the dramatically discounted price of $169.99 and from evangelicalbible for even less at $149.99 Just let that sink in. You can get one of the best quality, best translations, from Crossway printed and bound by Jongbloed, the premiere Bible bindery for the price of a concert ticket.
In the world of premium Bibles there isn’t much room for error or variance. If you want to publish a premium Bible, you go to Jongbloed of the Netherlands. When Crossway wanted to publish the Omega, they didn’t skimp. They also went to Jongbloed. There are numerous reasons why publishers utilize them for their premium editions. Paper choices, cover choices, binding methods, printing equipment and methods, overall professionalism and standards, you get the idea. Cambridge, Schuyler, Allan, all have made use of Jongbloed for their top notch Bibles. The E.S.V. Omega Reference Bible in black, edge lined goatskin leather, is one of the best Bibles available today. It belongs in the premium Bible category.
I could go on and on about the great qualities of this edition, but instead I think it would be better if I just show you. Without further delay, some high resolution pictures with comments.
The Omega was shipped from Crossway in a white box. It arrived undamaged.
Inside the shipping package, was the Bible in it’s black, two piece, presentation box. Retain it for storage. The Omega is too flexible as an edge lined Bible for you to stand it on a bookshelf without a box.
Inside the presentation box, the Omega is wrapped in two bands of paper to protect the page edges and keep it from shifting around during shipping.
The black goatskin cover is perimeter stitched to the inner liner. It has a pleasing natural grain, and is very supple.
The inner cover/liner is also leather. It has a gold perimeter line and the corners are finished well. The hinge will take a bit to break in, but once you do it will last a long time.
The spine is smyth sewn and very flexible. You can see the signatures bend around it rather than the pages bending around a glued spine. This is a, “must have” feature for a Bible. They should all have sewn spines. I wouldn’t even purchase a value line Bible without a sewn spine unless I had to. The sewn spine is a major factor in how long the Bible will last and how well it will open and lay flat.
As you can see from the pictures, the cover is supple and has a lovely textured grain to it. It is a pleasure to hold. The light weight and dimensions of the Omega equate to hours of easy reading, as well as long evenings of deep study.
The corners of the cover are very well executed as are the corners of the text block. They have been rounded, as well as the spine. The page edges are beautifully art gilt. Also, take note of the use of four ribbon markers. That is almost unheard of. I know it is the first time I have heard of it, and I like it. The color of the ribbons is complimentary to the cover, and each other. I am actually using all four of them. I use one for my Old Testament reading, one for the proverbs and devotional reading, one for my New Testament reading, and one to mark where I am at in my study with a couple of my brothers in Christ.
The gold and brown head and tail bands match the ribbons and inner liner.
The spine is decorated with four raised hubs. It has, “Holy Bible” at the head, the ESV logo, “English Standard Version” above the foot, where the Crossway logo sits, all hot stamped into the goatskin leather.
The text block is joined to the cover like all edge lined Bibles, by gluing the leather tab from the inner liner to the block and then covering it with a vinyl coated card paper. This one is glued further up the paper to make it more durable.
At the front you’ll find a presentation page and some family records pages.
The Omega Heirloom Bible employs a 28gsm PDL paper that has a opacity rating of 79. The Omega uses a 10-pt. Lexicon font for the main text.
With one page singled out and help up with light showing through from behind you can see how well the line matching was used. It is exceedingly effective in reducing eye strain, and making this Bible a pleasure to read. This coupled with the high quality print job that Jongbloed did makes this a most legible Bible.
It is a double column, paragraph format layout with drop cap style numbers for the chapters. The book titles appear at the top of the first page of each book. Page numbers are placed at the top and justified to the center of the head. The text is some of the boldest I’ve seen and is very sharp. It contrasts well against the paper and also is a tremendous feature making the Omega a great Bible.
To make space for the text, the cross references and notes are printed at the bottom of the page. This layout is becoming more and more popular because of its effect on text real estate on the page.
For you note takers who dare to write in such a lovely Bible there is about a half inch margin available. I don’t see much note taking going on here, but if you must…
As you’ve come to expect on premium Bibles, the page edges are art gilt with red under gold.
There is a useful 41 page, 3 column concordance in the back of the Omega. Make sure to take advantage of it. It can be a helpful tool.
I think you’ll be very happy should you decide to purchase an Omega Reference Bible from Crossway. I don’t think there are very many Bibles out there that are any better. It is one of the best. This Bible would make an excellent gift to a person graduating from seminary, a Preacher in your Church, or anyone who enjoys well built Bibles.

I have the original edition, and it’s a great ESV Bible with larger print. The quality isn’t quite as nice as a Schuyler, but the price is lower. My rating is based on quality for the price. Compared to a Schuyler and disregarding the price difference, I’d rate this edition as four stars. Nothing wrong with it at all, just not quite as luxurious.

If I could give evangelicalbible.com more than 5 stars, I would. Their customer service is the best I have ever experienced. I doubt I will ever buy a Bible anywhere else again.
As far as this beautiful, goatskin, Omega Bible I am thrilled with it’s quality. The line matching is excellent; the pages are vibrant; and the flexibility is fantastic. I think this is the perfect size for preaching for my tastes, and I am looking forward to many years to come with this in the pulpit.

WOW! This Bible is better than I could have imagined! It combines portability (9.75″ tall x 6.5″ wide x just over 1″ thick) with a generous 10pt font–making it a perfect personal Bible, preaching Bible or teaching Bible. Not only is the size of the Bible and size of the font two huge points in it’s favor, the craftsmanship has been executed flawlessly. The black goatskin feels and smells very nice. The Bible lays flat out of the box–it does start out somewhat stiff due to it’s thinness, but breaks in quite easily. The paper is extremely smooth, highly readable (due to line-matching which eliminates almost all bleed through or ghosting) and almost has a “cream” color tinge to it. I also appreciate the four ribbon markers and red under gold art gilding. The double column layout typically performs poorly in the poetry section, but compared to most double column formats out there, the Omega Thinline Reference created a double column format that is more than satisfactory in the poetry sections.
This will be my “Bible for every use” Bible. Personal reading, teaching, and/or preaching.
I HIGHLY recommend giving this a try, especially with the great price from EvangelicalBible.com!

Wow! What a fantastic Bible! Beautiful in every way. The text is clear and readable and beautifully set. The cover is outstanding, and the paper is like touching silk. This is going to be one of my two “go to” Bibles and will travel everywhere with me. The service at Evangelical Bible was, as always, superlative!

I just received my Crossway Omega Goatskin Thinline Reference Bible in the mail for the 2nd time!! I say the 2nd time, because once in awhile there are some small defects that can always be expected when mass producing. But my worries were put to rest when the crew at Evangelical Bible was so kind as to replace it and get the 2nd copy to me on the short notice that I needed it by. I’ve bought 6-8 Bibles over the yrs. from Evangelical and I can’t say enough about there service. They also deserve a five star rating. If you have an issue with these people believe me it’s YOU not them. They will go out of there way to make sure there isn’t one for you!!
Now on to the Bible.
The ESV is a new version for me. I am more of a traditionalist. NKJV, NASB. I like the NLT but it’s a thought for thought translation. The ESV is a good modern literal translation. Once I felt the translation was a good one, I knew where to go to get a well made version of it. The Omega Thinline is a wonderfully crafted Bible. It’s print is not to small, or to large. crisp and not blurred or fuzzy. The Leather is outstanding. I love Goatskin leather. This one is not to stiff or to buttery. It sits right in the middle. Flexible, but still a bit firm. If you like the thinline Bible style, you will like this one for those reasons. It’s line matched from page to page and zero bleed threw. If I had to give any critique to it they are minor.
1st: The ribbons are very cheap. Not sure why?? This is not a knock against Crossway. Just about every expensive Bible I’ve bought have the same cheap ribbons!! I’ve become somewhat of an expert at replacing them with good ones. Cost about 30 cents per Bible. 2nd: The spine is too busy with advertisement. There are five things on the spine. 1.) Holy Bible 2.) ESV 3.) ESV logo 4.) English Standard Edition 5.) Crossway. Even writing it seems a bit much. I don’t want to discourage you on these points from buying it. There minor, but their legit. If I had the choice of buying all over again after seeing and having it in my hands I would. I will have many hours of enjoyment with it.

This is a wonderful edition of Crossway’s ESV. What I love most about it is its handy size and weight (not so large!) and its 10 pt. print size, along with the leather lined goatskin cover. I also like the double column format with the references and footnotes at the bottom instead of in a center column. The width of each text column is therefore good for readability. (I also like single column format IF the line length/word count is not too long.)
I also love the perimeter stitching, extra yapp, and the softer, almost coppery shade of the art gilt. The four different colored ribbons–black, brown, coppery brown, cream–are also a very nice accent despite their narrowness. The paper is good, and as always, line matching greatly helps with ghosting. Ideally, my older eyes would like slightly bolder printing, but that’s their problem.
I love the natural grain on this goatskin. It has some longer grain lines than my uniformly pebble-grained Allan and Schuylers do and is just as flexible. The finish does not seem quite as smooth, or maybe seems a bit more matte? This may simply be that it’s a little different, and isn’t a bad thing.
The particular copy I received is not 100% perfect, however. The gilt line has one spot that’s a little too light, and the inside leather lining feels a bit thinner just below that spot. I think this is probably a tiny fluke that applies only to my copy. The outside cover looks and feels perfect. I’m not about to reject it over this, nor deduct a star. For the sale price I paid this is a superb product.
The Omega is a premium quality work and, all things considered, ranks right up there in Schuyler and Allan territory. The Omega is also significantly less expensive and is a great value.
A bit about the translation choice, of which I’ve grown fond–
The ESV is one of the more literal translations, along with these others that I enjoy using and comparing: NKJV, NASB, KJV.

I just received my new Omega ESV and all I can say is, “wow.” As others have mentioned, this looks like an Allan Bible. I’ve owned an Allan, and I like this better because it does not feel as flimsy. It’s got just the right amount of stiffness to it. The font size is excellent. The yapp is just right, not to much of an overhang. Paper quality is fantastic, especially for a thinline Bible, should not have any issue with getting worn and potentially tearing as this ages. This looks like a workhorse Bible and will be my go to Bible from now on. At $157 (black), it’s a great buy compared to the price of an Allan. It should last forever. As always EV’s service is top notch, arrived in just 4 mailing days, media mail said 4-8 days. Thank you!!

This is the most nicest Bible that I have ever purchased. It arrived within 5 days of ordering. As soon as I opened the box, the smell of the leather was incredible. The leather is very soft, with a beautiful, deep grain. It feels so good in my hands that I just keep picking it up. In my opinion, the text is perfect, not too big, but certainly not small. The line-matching is extremely well done, and there is very minimal ghosting. I haven’t been able to afford to purchase an Allan, but from what I can see, Crossway has done an amazing job with the Omega. The only issue that I have with this particular Bible, is that I don’t know if I can bring myself to highlight or underling passages in it. It is almost too beautiful. It is a very nice size to carry to church, and too read at home, but I would think twice before stuffing it in a briefcase or backpack for travel, at least not without a proper case. If you decide to purchase the Omega, I don’t believe you will be at all disappointed. Especially at this price. It’s not inexpensive by any means, but it is well worth the money.

This is a fabulous Bible, received in record time, ordered on Wednesday afternoon and receive Friday morning. It is the perfect size, good for carrying around and also good for personal study. The goatskin is immaculate as usual, very flexible and soft. The cross references are put at the bottom right side of the page which makes for a much easier reading. This is the best Bible I have owned. I have ordered many Bibles from evangelical.com, and have never had to return one for any reason.

This is the most beautiful ESV that i have purchased.(i have four) It is so nice i actually feel like reading the Bible more. The edges are beautifully lined and the printing is clear and sharp. I was so tempted to buy a second one. It would be nice to have a customised case to protect it. I am really impressed with this product. The feel of the leather is very soft but firm enough.

I just got a second Crossway Omega. After using the first one I got another to not use but keep new. This Bible is the best ESV on the market. The Schuyler design and cover are awesome. Has very good print. Paper is typical Bible paper. Rather on the thin side but no more than any other Bibles. The thin Bible paper in Bibles drives me nuts. Come on get real Bible manufacturers put real paper in Bibles. The only Bible I know that has thick paper is the Schuyler Quentel NASB Bible. It is awesome. For the price of this Omega Bible you get a fully custom Bible with Schuyler and Allan quality. Better buy while you can. I don’t think they will last long. Maybe I’ll get another to give to someone. I am also waiting for the new Schuyler ESV Quentel due out towards end of year. It will be pretty thick also but about 10 percent less thickness as the NASB Quentel.
