Outstanding! It’s like the big brother to the Heirloom Heritage Edition from 2021. When I received my redesigned ESV Quentel, I thought it could never be topped—until the Veritas arrived. The packaging made me think someone was channeling Steve Jobs. The experience of opening the box made my hair stand on end. The box is beautiful, and the packaging was spot on. Very elegant. The mahogany calfskin leather is very soft, only slightly stiffer than the Heritage goatskin. I love the pebbly feel. There’s not too much flop, but just enough. There exists a clear difference between the Heritage goatskin and the Veritas calfskin. I prefer the 28gsm European paper—soft like cotton, smooth, and the titanium pigment removes most of the show-through. If you read your Bible regularly, turning the pages becomes an easy affair over time. The typeface is exquisite—plenty large enough for my old and tired eyes. If I could design the perfect Bible for myself, this is what would be produced.
Verdict: Out of the park home run! At least until the next ESV offering from Schuyler!
