This is a great Bible. I also have a NKJV Black Pearl Stridon FY and have had a couple other premium Bibles.

The cover on this Bible isn’t supple but rather firm, but it feels good to me and seems like good quality.

The paper is nice, feels good when turning, and though it has a little ghosting, I notice it less than with the Stridon, I think because of the color of the paper. When I first opened the Bible the paper struck me as yellow, but now it seems more cream and I much prefer it to most white paper because it doesn’t reflect light when I read it under a reading lamp so it’s much easier on my eyes.

For a journaling Bible, it is much easier to handle than my KJV Note Taker’s Bible (which I love otherwise) and the Thomas Nelson NKJV Journal the Word Bible I briefly owned. This is a chunky Bible, but I find it to be the perfect size for a journaling Bible, and not hard to hold like the other 2 Bibles I mentioned, which are both a little bit thicker to the point where I find them awkward. I really feel like they nailed the dimensions given the compromises that have to be made when adding a 2″ margin to a Bible.

Though there are more luxurious Bibles out there, this is the only Bible I’ve had where I can’t identify any real faults.

Overall I am pleased with this bible. The buffalo leather is attractive and feels nice in the hand. The single column layout is very legible, and the 2″ lightly ruled margins are superb. From a note-taking perspective, I think this is superior to the wide margin reference bible – its 1″ margins are really cramped in comparison, especially in the inner gutters.

The stitching and corner work leave a tad to be desired, but there are trade-offs in every bible (and rebinding is always an option). My only real complaint from a long-term perspective is the paper color – I think white would be preferable to cream, though I can live with it. Dedication and family pages would have been nice as well, as this seems like a bible that is meant to be used for a long time.

Ultimately I am excited to spend time with this bible, filling it with my own notes, prayers and commentaries – in my opinion, the value to be gained from that far outweighs any of the minor shortcomings of this bible.
