As a person who is particularly fond of, and possesses, four Cambridge Pitt Minion Bibles, I was very pleased when I learned of the new Cambridge Diadem. Here was a Bible that would be identical in layout to my beloved Pitt Minions, but about 20% larger making the font a bit easier to read for my aging eyes. I was especially pleased when Cambridge announced that there would be a Diadem NASB – hoping it would be the NASB2020 version. So, I was somewhat disappointed to learn that they would be publishing the NASB1995 instead. Since I have a Clarion NASB1995 (an excellent Bible), I assuaged my hurt feelings by purchasing the new Topaz NASB2020.

I won’t use this space to extol the features of the CSB version, or even the Cambridge Diadem as that has already been done by others. I just want to say how pleased I am with the Diadem in the red calf split leather binding. I have many Cambridge Bibles – in goatskin, calfskin, and calf split leather. But I must confess that I find the Cambridge calf split leather particularly pleasing. It is very attractive, feels firm, and while somewhat stiff when new, softens nicely with use.

The quality of this calf split Diadem is what I have come to expect from Cambridge. The binding is excellent, the corner work on the paste down inner liners, the two red ribbons, and the gold gilt on the page edges is flawless. If I have one complaint, it is that the words of Christ are not the darker red that you would find in the Cameo or the Concord. This makes the red letters in the Diadem a bit more difficult to read, but it is not objectionable as the red seems to be consistent throughout. Overall, this is another outstanding offering from Cambridge that I highly recommend.
