As usual, kudos to the team at Evangelical Bible. My NLT PSQ FY arrived a few days early and what an achievement! As expected, the materials that make up this Bible are timelessly classic. The Bible feels as if it’s already “broken in” within a minute or two of being unboxed. The design of the Bible takes you back to a time when there was genuine pride in production, something that is observably alive and well with Schuyler Bibles. This edition, being the larger iteration of the PSQ line, fits comfortably in your hand, which will aid in the longevity of it’s use. It is well balanced as you hold it wide open, stiff enough to hold it’s place, but floppy enough to fall into your hand. The bolder type greatly increases it’s legibility over it’s predecessors, even though THEY were already a great distance ahead of other Bible manufacturers. Additionally, the clarity of the type virtually eliminates ink bleed through, which had been a consistent concern among Bible readers. All in all, this is a Bible that you will be grateful to carry. The exterior is a vivid testimony to the precious content of the interior. Extremely well done Schuyler! Thank you for your contribution to the wonderful gift of God’s self-revelation!

I noticed the new dimensions for the NLT “PSQ” before a popular bible YouTuber posted about them. I was super excited. About 1 inch taller and wider than the classic PSQ, which has been my most used Bible over the past several years. I have my hands on a PSQ every day without fail. But have thought they are a bit too small to be a one and only Bible. They’re a bit like the Glock 26 is to the Glock 19. The 19 is better and only a bit bigger. The new NLT “PSQ” is akin to the Glock 19. Truly the perfect size. I love the bold font and the larger page dimensions. The NLT text block itself is my favorite design from Schuyler thus far. This book has an identical interior to the full size NLT Quentel, including the full concordance.
I have the honor of being a pastor of kids ministry and use the NLT on a weekly basis. Because of that I purchased a zippered copy of this book to haul around with me everywhere. I realize not everyone is in a position to shell out that kind of $$$ for these books. Here are some thoughts on which cover to buy:
Zippered versions: If you need a workhorse that you can throw around without worrying about folding pages, damaging the cover or page edges, etc. Great travel Bibles. Can throw in a backpack, suit case, etc without worrying too much. Opens flat anywhere in the book. Easy to read while laying in bed or sitting down.
Calfskin: Tuscany/Sienna/Saddle Brown Aniline calfskin: If you don’t care that your cover will have scratches/scuffs/marks/discoloration from usage. These are also the thickest leathers Schuyler offers. I prefer these leathers on the full size Quentel (and Stridon) because they provide a more robust and stiff cover for the book. However, I find them a bit stiff and inflexible for the PSQ series.
Calfskin: Desert Camel/Olive Green/Chestnut calfskin. These have the flexibility of the goatskin covers, and also a really cool marbled/crackled look and texture due to the dying process. These covers are really neat.
The Prussian blue calfskin is its own category. Sort of a suede/matte finish. Probably my least favorite.
You really cannot go wrong with any of the above. Schuyler has been at the top of their game. I look forward to seeing what they come out with next.
