Description
The new and updated Stridon ESV is our same popular verse-by-verse, single column layout but updated with a more opaque 36 GSM paper, substantially wider margins, and makes use of the 2025 ESV text. Here is a PDF sample. The slightly smaller text accommodates the wider margins while remaining very clear and legible and bold verse numbers have been added to indicate the start of a new paragraph. Cross references and footnotes are separated at the bottom of the page for ease of use. These modifications result in a Bible that functions as a highly practical edition for note-taking and in-depth study.

This Schuyler Stridon ESV was a birthday gift from my wife, and it is easily the best Bible I have ever owned. I’ve bought a Holman Illustrated Bible for my father in the past when trying to introduce him to the Word of God, and I remember falling in love with the buttery smooth, padded feel of that cover. However, this one is literally unmatched. The smoothness I remembered doesn’t even come close in comparison.
Build and Feel
I’ve mainly owned genuine leather or cheaper-made Bibles before, so I didn’t know what I was missing. The Black Goatskin is incredible, but the paper (charta) is honestly insane. It feels like the softest, highest-quality paper you’ve ever felt. I was also surprised by the page-turning; I didn’t realize my other Bibles had issues with pages sticking, I just thought that was normal. These pages flip perfectly and smoothly every time.
Layout and Use
The single-column, verse-by-verse layout makes it easy to just sit and read for hours, but it’s even better for following along at church. Despite the premium materials, I’ve had zero issues with bleed-through. I use Mr. Pen Highlighters and Micro Pens, and they perform beautifully on this paper.
Dimensions and Handling
As a bigger guy (6’2″) with 8″ x 4″(without the thumb extended) hands, the size of this Bible feels very natural and secure. It is easy to pack and carry without feeling bulky.

I received a black goatskin ESV Stridon as a Christmas gift this past year and it is absolutely stunning. My first premium bible. It feels great to hold and very comfortable to read for long period of time. Its larger and heavier than some other bibles for sure, but not so big that its impractical to bring along to church service or bible studies. It comes with me every Sunday! I feel very blessed to have this bible that will stand up to time and use and be able to be passed down.

You guys really killed it with this one. This is my first premium Bible, though I have held and read out of another, and this is definitely the most appealing Bible I’ve ever used. Was hoping for one of the Calfskin options but out of stock so opted for the traditional black goatskin, but not disappointed in the slightest, Totally stunned!

I recently purchased a Schuyler Stridon ESV in black goatskin leather, and it is truly the highest quality Bible I have ever owned.
I chose this edition specifically for use in my pastoral ministry. I have a great Crossway ESV Omega Thinline Reference Edition that has served me well for the past eight years. However, the Schuyler Stridon’s verse-by-verse layout will be particularly helpful in the pulpit, and I cannot wait to use it!
I chose to have the Bible imprinted with a blind stamp (no gold foil), and it was clearly done with great care; perfectly aligned and subtle enough to match the Jerusalem cross on the cover.
The Evangelical Bible staff were a pleasure to communicate with. They packaged the Bible securely with plenty bubble wrap and foam to ensure it wasn’t damaged in transport, and it was shipped promptly. This was a truly excellent experience, and I fully intend to purchase from them again.
