New stock just arrived.

This beautiful edition of the 52 Longprimer is bound in a soft Black Meriva natural grain calfskin with a generous semi-yapp cover, leather-lined in navy split calfskin, with gilt line round the inside of the case, and features double-sprayed red under gold art gilt page edges and three navy blue ribbon markers with white head and tail bands.

The 52 Longprimer edition includes our distinctive 8pp Presentation Page and Family Record as well as 32pp of navy feint rule Allan notepaper in addition to the dictionary of proper names, subject index, concordance and 16 pages of Oxford Bible maps.

First printed in 1952, the King James Version Longprimer Bible is a sumptuous, traditional reference setting of the Authorized Version. Developed by Oxford University Press and now published exclusively by R. L. Allan, it has for many years been our flagship Bible, renowned the world over for its clarity of type and our beautiful bindings.

Our latest Longprimer printings hark back to a vintage copy of the classic Longprimer, printed in the period 1952-1958 under Charles Batey, then Printer to the University of Oxford, returning to a page image that is much closer to the original intentions of the typesetters. This new-old page image retains the large, clear type of the Longprimer we all know and love, but has a crisper letter form and less of the broken type and ‘spread’ that mark out much-used letterpress typesettings subsequently transferred to film and, only more recently, to digital scans.

Printed on best quality highly opaque 36gsm India Paper * Large, crisp black letter type * 100,000 centre column chain references with dates above * Three navy ribbon markers * Red under gold page edges * 16 pages of full colour Oxford Bible maps * Concordance, subject index and dictionary of proper names * Exclusively available in Allan’s fine leather bindings.

Page size:  8 3/4 x 6 inches (221 x 150mm)

Spine width: 1 1/2 inch thick (40mm)

This Bible is a work of art. Allan presents the Word of God on high quality paper with an easy-to-read print font (from Oxford University Press) on excellent quality paper. And this Allan Bible is presented in a beautiful leather bound book that will last a lifetime. I collect Schuyler, Cambridge, and Allan Bibles. This particular Allan is among the best of them in terms of design, materials, and overall quality. (I bought an old, worn out Allan and dissected it with a knife! It was nearly impossible to cut through the binding and identify the “signatures” or collections of pages. Allan and Cambridge and Schuyler Bibles are built to last a human life and beyond!) In summary, I love this Allan due to its perfect design of leather, paper, and print face that all supply me the Bible as a needed friend and as a work of art that I could save up for and buy.

I purchased this Bible on a Sunday, it shipped Monday and I opened it on Wednesday! Evangelicalbible has got to have the best customer service of any online company. They answer calls and emails in a timely manner, and are as nice as you would hope believers in the Benevolent Savior would be.

As for the Allan Longprimer 52…
This is my first Allan Bible, and I couldn’t be more pleased! Everything about it is truly excellent. I am particularly pleased with the thicker paper used in this Bible (32 gsm I believe). The meriva calfskin is also a delight to handle and in my opinion equal to goatskin.

I bought a Canterbury slate kjv Bible that shipped fast and is a beautiful reading Bible. Excellent quality. So I also bought a green calfskin longprimer and it too came fast in excellent condition. Thanks so much

WOW, is all I can say. I received my 52 Longprimer Meriva Calfskin today. My order was completed on the 1st of July and it is now the 3rd of July, What a beautifully crafted Bible, to say that I’m impressed doesn’t sum it up. I am truly a new lifelong customer of Evangelical bible.com. YOU GUYS ROCK. In service to Jesus, Rev. E.K. Smith, House of Hope Apostolic Church, Newfield, NY

This Bible is just different. I purchased it straight from EVBible and received it within an couple of days. I have been so pleased with it. To my surprised, it opened up just as flat as a 53 would. One thing I don’t like about new bibles is how long it takes for them to feel really good and broken in. This Bible didn’t have that problem in the least. It has been a joy to read, mark from, and pray with. I plan on making the Longprimer my heirloom bibles of choice and what a great edition to start out with. If you can’t get a 53, this is no downgrade! Getcha one!!

What a quality Blble. This is the best quality Bible I’ve owned thus far. Looks great on your website but better in person. I know I’ll be reading this for years to come. If anyone is considering purchasing this please do. You won’t be disappointed. I ordered mine from evangelicalblebible.com on a Sunday night and had it in my hands Wednesday morning. Customer service is great and I’ll recommend you to anyone looking to buy a quality Bible at a fair price. If I could give this 10 stars I would. Wow!!
I already know I’ll be ordering again in the near future. Thank you

This is an awesome bible! I was hesitant because it was calfskin and not goatskin, but I am thoroughly pleased. I was concerned because calfskin Bibles are usually of lower quality construction than the more expensive goatskin Bibles. The construction of this Bible, however, is just as good as Allan goatskin Bibles. The leather is super soft and supple; it’s very thick and feels great in your hands. I just can’t stop petting it. You will not be disappointed when you buy this Bible.

Got my new Black 52 in the mail today and have to say I couldn’t be more pleased. The text is very bold and readable. The 36gsm paper is outstanding especially if you underline or highlight in your bible. The meriva calfskin is very thick, yet very supple. All in all it is just a perfect bible. Keep up the good work Allan and Evangelical bible.

Received my Bible Saturday just two days after ordering it. I wanted the goatskin 53 but all I can say is wow. This bible is not anything lacking. The text block is very readable and although the yapp is not as pronounced as the 53, it is just as nice. What is important is the Word of God that are inside. If you are looking for a great bible that is easy to read and will last you for years do not hesitate with this one. Great Job Allan and Evangelical bible for providing us with the hunger for the word.

Although I did not buy this Bible from EVBible, I wanted to leave a review here. This Meriva Calfskin is amazing. If you are like me and have several Goatskin Allan Bibles, then one of these Bibles should also be in your collection. When I first got this, I couldn’t stop picking it up just to feel it!

As for the internals, this printing is excellent. I love the paper, and the font is clean and crisp. There is little bleed through.

This is not a full yapp like a 53 or 63, but is similar to the ESV NC1, for example.

This one is bound my Jongbloed, and the workmanship is excellent. The corners are well done, and the art-gilting is a darker red and closer to what you would normally get from a London bound Allan.

This is truly one of my favorite Bibles. You will not be dissapointed.

    What is Allan doing!?
Well, Great is what sums up the latest release of the 52 Longprimer. This absolutely beautiful soft and smooth Meriva Calfskin along with the Calfsplit liner shouts perfection! This Bible is wonderfully crafted with absolute attention and detail. This is not only Gorgeous but, surprisingly very affordable. I can’t say anything negative, for it speaks volumes for itself and if there were an extra star to rate it, I’d undoubtedly give it that.
Thank you Allan and Son’s & Evangelical Bible for this great edition to the KJB family.

This is a review of the Allan KJV Longprimer Bible with the Black Meriva Calfskin leather lined Cover.

I ordered this Bible directly from Allan. Because I didn’t see it available locally. I ordered it about March 10, 2017 and I had it in a week I was expecting longer. It is the Meriva Calfskin with the leather lining. The cover is very, very supple. I can’t compare it to the Longprimer with the Highland Goatskin because I have never handled one. The Calfsking is more supple than the binding itself, but I think that will soften with use.

I have been using a Cambridge split calfskin, Concord Reference Bible. My first impression is the Allan is slightly larger it’s 1/2″ longer 1/4″ wider and 1/4″ thicker and a little heavier. The text is different but each is as readable as the other. Although I find the references in the Allan a little more difficult to see, especially the numbered references. I am a fan of Red letter bibles but I think I can live without.

My apologies to Evangelical Bible.com but the day I ordered my Allan it was not yet offered in the EBC website. After I received it I checked back and it was listed. This is a very, very nice Bible and even without seeing the Goatskin version I think this will satisfy even the most discriminating buyer.
