Description

This New International Version Bible is produced in the highly praised Clarion format.

Cambridge Clarion Bibles give a superb reading experience. The Bible text is not separated into columns, but flows right across the page, with the references in the outer margins. Clarion Bibles employ a modern digital font, Lexicon No 1, with plenty of space between the lines, delivering text with the readability usually associated with much larger type.

The Bibles incorporate a set of colour maps and a concordance, and have a presentation page at the front.

They use the highest quality materials: they are printed on India paper, and fully sewn, making them not only beautifully flexible, but more resilient too; They are bound in a choice of calf split leather and edge-lined goatskin leather. Both styles have ribbon markers, head and tailbands, and gold blocking on the cover and spine.

4 reviews for Cambridge NIV Clarion Reference Bible, Black Calfsplit Leather

This is the nicest Bible I have owned. It is elegant but simple. I love the single column. The references in the side margins give room for any notes I may want to add. I am 66 years old, and like the above reviews say, the print is small and would have been too small for me to read, but I had cataract surgery last year, and with 2.50 reading glasses, I can read it just fine. I pray that I will be able to use this Bible for the rest of my life. Cambridge honors the Word of God by making such superb Bibles. I cherish mine.

This Bible, while it’s not the goatskin, art gilded version, is a beautiful publication. Unfortunately, for my “older eyes” the type style and size do not work, so I had to return it and pay the restocking fee. I wish it had worked, but it didn’t. Since then, I’ve found the (not as nice) Zondervan buffalo skin compact large print NIV works fine with my eyes. It is not built as well, although it is edge lined, perimeter stitched and art gilded. The buffalo skin cover had an odd odor that took a couple of weeks to dissipate. I only note this in case you need an alternative that might work for you.

I purchased the Schuyler PSQ NASB as sort of my daily carry. While it is an exact copy of my Schuyler NASB, I thought this would be perfect, however when it arrived, I found the font size to be too small and too uncomfortable to read with my 60 year old eyes. I ultimately purchased the Cambridge Clarion, and although the font size is basically the same in size, I found the Clarion easier to read and the layout was perfect for what I was looking for. I picked up the calf skin leather and I’m pleasantly pleased how it softened up and is perfect for my daily carry. Maybe it’s the difference in layout between the PSQ and the Clarion, but my Clarion is never far from me. I have purchased the Clarion NIV and ESV as well, in the calf split leather and both have softened and are amazingly comfortable.

Be warned this print is small. I’ve heard people say that it’s very readable for the size font that it is, but I don’t find that to be true. It’s small, and not bold at all in my opinion. I trusted the opinions and reviews and I put my name on this bible, now I have have bible that can’t be returned and I can’t read it. All else is of the highest quality available. Incredibly nice bible but the print is just too small.
