This is my first time purchasing a premium bible and likely my last. I won’t go into all of the great aspects of this bible as they are already well established. Perhaps I’m a bit ignorant but I’m giving a 3-star review as I must honestly say I’m disappointed in the paper quality. It feels no better/durable than the paper used in the Crossway Thinline bible I purchase back in 2009 for less than $30 and still have and use though it has certainly seen better days. Based on previous reviews it sounds like I should have purchased this bible a few years ago when they produced it with better quality paper. In regards to EvangelicalBible.com the processing and shipping timeline was excellent!

I have just received this beautiful Bible. The premium goatskin leather is soft and subtle. The 11 pt. Font is perfect, no reading glasses! It’s not a study Bible, but it has many cross-reference footnotes, concordance and maps. It opens perfectly and already feels comfortable to hold. I am thrilled and can’t wait to use it.

I purchased this Bible 1 1/2 years ago but in the 36 GSM thickness. I have a personal size in 28 GSM (which is what this Bible’s thickness is now) and it is noticeably different. For a giant Bible like this, what does it matter to add .2″ more thickness and have pages that are more durable to accidental tears, folding, curling, etc? Still giving a 5-star review because I have MANY goatskin/calfskin/calf-split Bibles from Schuyler, Cambridge, Tyndale, Crossway and Zondervan. Schulyer a step above them all. People love to say that Cambridge is top-tier with Schuyler, but how this is even possible when they use a pasted vinyl liner?
My biggest opinion is to get rid of the concordance, maps, cross-references etc. and shrink these Bibles down to a thinline like everyone else is doing. For “study”, we have online and software resources now that make it easy to follow cross-references without flipping through pages in a physical Bible. A physical Bible is for the joy of reading God’s word and should just be in a “reader” format.

I’ve had this Bible in my possession for about a week now and been keeping it in the box. Every once and a while I will take it out to hold, smell and read a little bit. I love the quality of this Bible and plan on getting another one in NASB, but there is one thing that Schuyler may have overlooked, the art-gilting. Now, I’m not saying that the art-gilting is not consistent or as advertised, but I don’t think it’s water resistant. I naturally have clammy hands and I realized that after flipping through a few pages of my schuyler that it started whipping off on my fingertips. I am now concerned in the long-run how much will be wiped off and how much will remain. This is one genuine critique that can easily be fixed and I hope they do fix it. I have watched a couple videos on Youtube of people art-gilting their Bible’s and they use: Archival Ink, which is acid-free, permanent, and waterproof. Maybe Schuyler can follow suit to make their Bible’s the best they can be.

I purchased the plum/purple ESV Quentel from a private seller. In short, this is the best all around bible I have ever seen. It is well constructed. The leather is gorgeous. The 36 GSM paper, beautiful print, and line matching facilitate a rare ease of reading. There is nothing about this bible relative to what it was designed for about which to complain. It is jaw dropping.
I used to have a 1st generation Quentel and this one is better. The first was very good but a little stiff and unwieldy. This one is still built to last but easy enough to handle that it can be easily handled, brought to church, and used for a variety of purposes. If you are on the fence about the Schuyler Quentel, get off and place your order.

The softness and blue shade of the goatskin cover on this Bible are amazing. The font and crisp printing make reading it a joy. It has a black letter text (my preference), quality long ribbons (3) and beautiful maps. Finally, the sale price makes this ESV a great buy. If you want a premium ESV get one of these while you can.

My first Schuyler Bible, and what a Bible it is. I had a Crossway Classic Reference Edition in Black Calfskin previously and it was just ok – didn’t lie flat and font was tiny. I knew that I would need to branch out from Crossway to find what I was after. I looked into it and soon came across Schuyler. I have been reading the ESV for several years now so was set on it. I emailed Evangelical Bible about the dimensions of the Quentel vs Personal Size and, after their super quick reply from the lovely Beth, I decided on the Quentel as it’s a similar size to my Crossway Bible. I ordered it on Saturday and had it by the following Friday. What great service! It was shipped on Tuesday and I was able to track it all the way to my home in the UK via Fedex. I opened it up and was very pleased by how well packaged it was. The box is simple yet beautiful, and the Bible is something else! Absolutely first class! The smell of the luxurious Goatskin Leather when you open the box is incredible. I got the Imperial Blue Goatskin Leather Quentel ESV. The cover is supple and lovely – glad I branched out from my usual black Bible. The gold edge lining is lovely and the blue art gilt is really super looking! The font is so readable and the red chapter numbers, page numbers, verses in cross references really add to it. I can easily read this Bible without my glasses due to the 11 point Milo font that is bold. The concordance is great, despite the smaller font, as are the maps. The typesetting is a Schuyler design with 2K Denmark, not a Crossway one like Allan Bibles – much much better. This is the best ESV on the market. I can easily take it to Church without any hassle, although may get a Personal Size in due course as it a little smaller and more portable. Highly recommended. It will be my Bible for life!

I have had a imperial blue Quentel from a few years ago and wanted to get another one. Wow this is almost not even the same bible. Huge improvements! Finally the corner work was impeccable! Love this bible and love that it still has the 36gsm paper. The only thing that could make this better is an imperial blue silverline. Hint hint. Very happy. You’ll be even more impressed with the costumer service!

Wonderful Bible! I love how each book, chapter and refernces are in red ink. I just wish that the verse numbers were in red also. I would pay extra for that. The pages are so smooth and the text is great. I highly recommend this Bible.

Quality bible that will pretty much last for generations! I was impressed with the yap. It was more pronounced than I expected. Allan is known for their pronounced yaps, although not as pronounced I was extremely pleased when I opened the box. The font is big and bold. A pleasant change from the QSP that I have and need my reading glasses to read. Blue over gold gilt is absolutely beautiful! Nice goatskin cover will break in nicely with use! Overall fantastic bible! Can’t wait to get my antique brown NLT!
