I got this for Christmas, and I use it everyday. I love the way it feels in my hands. It is solid but flexible. The leather is supple, and a joy to hold. The purple is quite dark but still recognizable as purple. This is perfect, since a dark purple is more manly than a lavender shade. Schuyler makes a big deal about the handmade nature of their Bible’s. I think this is true as far as it goes, but while the fit of the components shows evidence of hand assembly, I’m pretty confident that machinery does most of the prep work of individual pieces. Not a big deal, but noteworthy for us needs. The 28GSM paper has little ghosting, but the pages are so thin that sometimes finding your page can be frustrating. I do not like this trend of slimline Bibles. Getting the book as thin as possible gains you little when the pages are like tissue. Regardless, this is a minor complaint and it doesn’t detract from the overall beauty of the Bible. I will sometimes just hold it and enjoy the feeling and flex the pages to watch the gilt turn from gold to red. In short, this Bible is a beautiful heirloom quality product.

Schuyler NASB Quentel in dark purple – Blown away by the quality of this Bible! I have a huge Bible collection (dozens) but this is now my go-to Bible. The esthetic experience is off the scale, and it gives the Word of God the reverence it deserves. I have two more Schuylers ordered: An NKJV Quentel in Mahogany and my favourite translation, the CSB, in dark green Quentel. If you’re debating whether or not to get a Shuyler, just do it! I’m hoping to eventually get a Quentel in the MEV.

Beautiful and supple. 3rd Schuyler Bible from EB also 3rd translation. I can’t get enough. This bible is probably the one for me. It’s a joy to hold and read. Thank you so much evangelical bible and Schuyler!!

Another great transaction with EB.com. I had this preordered when they opened up and it was well worth the 2 month wait. The purple is very dark and the ribbons are a lighter shade which makes for a nice contrast. The ghosting is barely more noticeable than my 36 gsm Quentel and the lighter weight is great. The leather is really nice, soft and smooth. The only thing I wish could be different would be a purple under gold gilt instead of the red.

I was really excited for this Bible. I thought it was going to have Art-Gilt edging (plum under gold) with gilt, but it actually has Art-Gilt edging (red under gold) with gilt. And this combination of red and purple seems tacky. A Schuyler Bible that would be only purple and gold would be the best premium Bible on the market.

Other than that, the Bible is great quality as always.

Very nice bible. The purple is just fine, heard people say it’s too dark. It’s fine, and you can tell it’s purple even in shade. As far as ghosting, not really. It’s very readable and you cannot notice any such thing unless your are deliberately trying to compare paper quality to higher gsm. The paper isn’t too thin either, it’s fine. The cover is nice and the ribbons are very well done. You have to realize there is going to be minor imperfections, such as a wrinkled page corner, perhaps the hide isn’t perfect and so on. Very unrealistic to expect a hand made bible will literally come to you perfect. It’s a trade off and worth it. Besides, if your actually read your bible, these imperfections will be moot. I’m happy with the service I received. Overall, a very good value. Thank you.

I acquired my dark purple goatskin NASB Thinline Quentel secondhand from someone who (inexplicibly) no longer wanted his. This is a gorgeous Bible. The dark purple goatsking cover and calfskin liner are so soft and flexible that it’s a joy to hold. The red art gilt is a little deeper red than I prefer (I like a more salmon-colored art gilt) but that is a very minor issue and not to be considered. I own a full-size ESV Quentel and this one is easier to hold and handle even though the footprint is identical except for the thickness. The margins in the text are just wide enough for my margin notes and there are ample note pages in the back for more notes. I don’t miss the concordance because I do most of my verse look-ups online anyway.[The newest edition of this Bible does include a concordance.] All in all, you can’t beat this full-size Bible for readability and the joy of reading.
