Description

SILVER LINE edition leather-lined in natural grain Meriva calfskin.

The KJV Brevier Clarendon Bible is a vintage Authorized/King James Version reference edition, developed by Oxford University Press and now published exclusively by R. L. Allan. This Wide Margin edition is particularly prized – its substantial margins and writeable paper, with the highest levels of opacity, combined with the bold, clear type of the Brevier Clarendon typesetting, make it the ideal Bible for intensive study and notetaking.

The 5WM is printed on PrimaBible 45gsm paper with superb writeability characteristics so as to maximize the benefit of the 1.5 inch outer/inner margins (1 inch at top and bottom).

This 5WM BLK S edition is bound in Black natural grain goatskin with generous yapp and silver embossing, leather-lined in dark blue natural grain Meriva calfskin, with silver gilt line inside, hand-pleated corners and double-sprayed blue under silver page edges, three silver-grey ribbon markers, with Allan presentation pages and family record, 16 pages of full-colour Oxford Bible maps and now with 32 pages of Allan feint rule notepaper.

Printed on best quality, writeable, highly opaque 45gsm India Paper * Large, crisp black letter type * Centre column references * 1½ inch outer and inner margins, 1 inch at top and bottom of the page * Three silver grey ribbon markers * Blue under silver page edges * 16 pages of full-colour Oxford Bible maps * 32 pages Allan feint rule notepaper * Exclusively available in Allan’s fine leather bindings.

I own this bible and it’s beautiful.
The leather is very soft and it’s visually stunning. As far as aesthetics go it’s 10/10.
    I like the paper, it’s a nice 45 GSM.
I gave it 4 stars because I don’t like the font. The font feels cheap like other reviews have stated. It feels like a cheap copy that’s been reproduced too many times and doctored up with extra bold ink. There are missing letters in words and references are so blurred up they’re illegible in some places. There are places that feel like a hot mess.
Now I do understand Allan is using an old hot metal press text scan, but like Cambridge, they should revisit their scan and get a better one like Cambridge did for the Cameo. For an almost 300$ bible it’s kind of silly that the main purpose (reading/studying) is hampered by the text itself. Moreover it’s not unknown to Allan. This has been an issue for over a decade and people have been complaining as long.
I think the Cambridge Concord Wide Margin is a much better bible. While they didn’t put as much into the aesthetics as the Allan Silver Line, it reads way better and has more extras and this is what matters for a bible.
I will likely trade this bible or sell it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice bible but I have a Concord Wide Margin and there’s no reason to use this bible over the Concord, none.

Bought this Bible second hand on another website. When it arrived it was absolutely beautiful. My wife said she wants one. Lord knows I want another one. The goatskin is supple, very soft and flexible. The gilding is perfect. It is silver over blue, wow, just WOW! The Bible is worth the price.

I’m extraordinarily discouraged after buying this bible. This is my third bible from EB and I don’t even want to send this one back because I don’t want store credit. This Bible is beautiful in every way, but still not worth the money they charge for it. The leading reason why is that the font is absolutely unlegible in many places. The center column reference in this bible is rendered useless in so many places, the font is sometimes missing and other’s so blurry and bold that you can’t tell what letter it is. Again EVERYTHING about the make of this bible is beautiful but this font is like someone photocopied a reference bible multiple times and then printed it using extra bold font with extra ink. It’s a shame something like this was put into such a luxury bible. Now my first premium bible I’m stuck with is probably not going to spend it’s time in the box on a shelf until I can gift it to someone or sell it. Save your money.

This rendition of the classic 5WM in the Silverline trim is astonishing. I have taken the time to make a video detailing this bible for those interested in it. You should buy this one before it goes away as Allan only does a limited run on their Silverline bibles. Perfect gift for anyone wanting a wide margin bible. Please click the link below to see this bible and thank you.

This is an absolutely stunning Bible! I love the silver and black combination. The blue under silver art gilt is spot on.

The Brevier Clarendon is one of my favorite text blocks so that is a plus. There is plenty of room for notes and outlining in the margin. I actually write full sermon notes in my margins.

The Goatskin is incredible. The paper is superb. The craftsmanship is personal!

Overall, this is an absolutely amazing Bible! If you have the means, don’t hesitate. Pull the trigger. They aren’t around very long!

This Bible is Awesome!!! I only discovered ‘Premium Bibles’ about 2 years ago and have been on a bit of a ‘Bible Journey’ trying to figure out what I like, want and need in a my Bibles and I decided that I had at least three needs: I needed a Travel Bible, a Preaching Bible and a Notetaking Bible. I have tried many different Bibles over the past couple of years and found that many of them were excellent Bibles but I just kept coming back to R. L. Allan’s. Allan Bibles are considered ‘Premium Bibles’ for a reason and I absolutely love them!

For my Travel Bible, I have an Allan Brevier Clarendon 7C in Black Goatskin. For my Preaching Bible, I have an Allan 53 Longprimer in Black Highland Goatskin. For my Notetaking Bible, I have this Allan Brevier Clarendon WM Black Goatskin Silver Line Edition.

When I opened this Brevier Clarendon WM Bible, the smell of Leather is the first thing that greets you (there’s just nothing like it)! The goatskin leather is very, very soft to the touch, it seems more so than my other two Allan’s for some reason. Upon opening the Bible up the first thing that strikes you is the beautiful Blue under Silver art gilt! This is the main reason that I purchased this Bible. I love the Blue! It makes my Bible reading experience just all the better. I enjoy reading the Bible everyday, but this just takes it to a new level for me. The font is stunning and just jumps off the page and my eyes can easily read the text. The paper is the best I have ever had in any Bible! It’s 45gsm and super smooth to the touch. I look forward to making notes in this Bible with my Micron pens in the near future.

I am very pleased with this Bible and can highly recommend both the Bible and the folks at EB.com. I sold another Wide Margin Premium Bible in order to get this one from Allan and I am very glad that I did. It’s a step up in my opinion.
