I was surprised to find no review of this beautiful bible, therefore, I’ll submit mine. First, evangelicalbible.com is pleasure to buy from. Every bible you purchase shows the chain of inspection/workmanship via worker initials along with “thank you” on your invoice; pretty cool. Packaging and shipping are first rate.
I own several Schuyler bibles, in different bindings, and every one is so beautifully designed and constructed. Their typesetting is the best in my opinion. Schuyler’s attention to detail in every aspect has made me a lifelong customer, and that of evangelicalbible.com.
That said, this Allan KJV Ruby Reference in Pale Blue Calfskin is my second Allan bible from Schuyler. I also own an Allan Brevier Clarendon 7C in Dark Purple Goatskin. I thoroughly love the esthetic, but I primarily purchased for the Cyclopedic Concordance (C). I enjoy bibles in the hand-size category, and wanted to purchase an Allan with their standard bible helps: Proper Names, Subject Index, Concordance. I wasn’t sure I wanted the larger 50 or 60 series longprimer. I then noticed this gem. I am a man and I noticed this bible came in a pale blue. It had the helps i sought, was the right size, and came in calfskin. Its a tiny bit smaller than the 7C, perhaps closer to Schuyler PSC and PSQ.
I’m so glad I made this purchase! The calfskin on this Allan Ruby is very similar to the Analine Calfskin by Schuyler, yet a touch softer, and more supple…a touch. I’m not saying it’s better. Thier in the same class. It’s more like saying 1A and 1B. The silky 28gsm paper is wonderful. The pale blue color is a dusty blue in person, and pairs beautifully with leather liner, blue under silver art gilding, and silver accents. This bible is a most impressive enclosure for the Word of God. Thanks evangelicalbible.com!
