This Ruby 103 has the smallest print of all the Allan KJV’s. The India 28gsm paper is so delicate , almost impossible to turn a page without creasing or denting. Holding my breathe helps ! Pens, pencils, & highlighters are taboo.
My request to Allan’s was for all their Bibles to be built with 45gsm paper. No other manufacturer comes close to the extreme high lovely quality of Allan’s goats with full yapp. The only future editions upgrade needed , would be to use the 1611 original Old English Text : size 12 font, on 45gsm ivory paper.

This Ruby is a beauty. Well made with well bound, supple goatskin which opens fairly flat. Print though small in font is bold so it makes for an easy read. Great “tiny” for paling in your carryon bag or purse. Worth it especially if you are an Oxford fan.

I was hesitant buying this bible because of the small foot print. I own many high end Allan and Schuyler bibles. The first day was an adjustment due to the small print. I have to say that after giving the Ruby a week, the bible has come alive. The print is bold and readable! The binding is great! Although I love the original Allan binding, I have to admit that I cannot stand overcast stitching. This bible does not open flat in Genesis yet, but I know it will eventually. Overcast stitching causes humps in the first 18 chapters of Genesis and produces page ripples over time. This new binding gives clean page reading and will open more flat with use. I will be ordering more Allan bibles in different translations. My favorites so far are my Longprimers in goat and Meriva calf, but this little Ruby has its uses. I like it a lot and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone wanting a small hand sized bible!

Even though I bought this direct from Allan I felt compelled to do a review. They really hit a home run with this one. The full yapp is awesome, I wish all Allans had it. Nice palm size bible. Floppy roll-up goatskin consistent with most of their stuff. Small text but large enough for me read without much trouble. The red under gold art gilding was perfectly executed on my copy. Great little package. Going to put some miles on this one.
