This has now become my go to bible for personal study and devotion! From the way that this bible lays virtually flat to the smell of the leather it is an absolute joy to hold in your hands. You know that you have a high end bible at a fraction of the price! My favorite feature of this bible is the text matching which makes it very nice to read with minimal ghosting. My second favorite feature is the soft supple goatskin cover. If you like high end bibles, but the price scares you a little then I suggest picking up the Crossway Omega Thinline!!

Just wanted to take a moment to give my thoughts on this excellent Bible. First it is an absolute joy to read from. The font size is just right and the paper is nice. The line matching gives the already opaque page an even cleaner feel. Anotherattribute that contributes to the clean feel of the page would be the references placed on the bottom right of the text on each page as opposed to the center column.Love reading from this Bible. Second the build quality is nice. It seems a little tight at first but I can already tell it is breaking in the more I use it. Nest the goatskin leather is very nice. I’ve owned Allans and a Schulyer and this leather seems every bit as nice. I might add that the leather on my Crossway is thicker than on my Allan, giving it a slightly more luxurious feel. Having said that, this is my go to Bible. The only things I wish were different would be fatter nicer ribbons. The ribbons are long which is nice, but just not wide and silky like Allan Bibles. Also,(probably being spoiled here), I would love to ditch the presentation pages and add lined note paper in the back. Still a 5 out of 5 Bible. Thanks for the great deal Evangelicalbible and thanks for a beautiful Bible,Crossway! This is my go to Bible!

This a finely-crafted Bible. Feels great in your hands. I was used to calfskin, so at first I thought the goatskin was going to be too stiff. But it is actually very soft and malleable. I believe it is a bit thicker than some other goatskin covers I’ve felt, but that gives greater support to the thinline format. The readability is wonderful with a 10.5 font, and I think the presentation on the page is beautiful (i.e. no center column references). Line matching makes any ghosting a non-issue. This is a personal preference thing, but I like the art gilt edges on the Omega better than some of the Allans that I’ve seen. It’s not as dark of a red, so I feel it has a more subtle effect that looks really nice when the Bible is laying open. The only negative I’ve experienced with the Omega is that the references at the end of each page are printed in font that is very small and very light, making them difficult to use. Also, as others have mentioned, I wish the ribbons were a bit more substantial. Other than those things, I’m loving this Bible for reading, study, and preaching. Very nice!

A+! This is one of the best all-around Bibles I’ve handled (and I’ve handled many goatskin Bibles including a couple Cambridges, a Schuyler, and a handful of Allans). A unique format for a two-column reference Bible and a very readable one as well. See my more extensive review here: http://writness.wordpress.com/2014/04/07/esv-omega-thinline-reference-bible-wow/

I received my ESV Omega Goatskin edition in record time (to Australia). This is a superb binding. The cover is soft and melts in the hand. The paper stock is so thin that the book feels like jello to hold — stunning… yet notes with a suitable marker to not bleed through. There’s little ghosting so it’s hardly noticeable. The printing is crisp and clear — readable and legible. The shade of red-under-gold page edging is a soft shade, almost red-orange. Schuyler did an amazing job on the production of this Crossway Bible.
    THANK YOU EVANGELICAL BIBLE.

Bible was extremely well made. Text is clear and just about the right sized font. The pages were larger than I had anticipated and the Bible was thinner than I anticipated. I like a slightly smaller page and thicker paper to minimize bleed through. However this Bibles bleed through was typical of all the Bibles I’m familiar with. The Bible is a 75 year anniversary edition. Am torn between using for reading or keeping as a collector edition. Also has almost a full yap cover of excellent goatskin leather typical of the Schuyler covers. The cover also has a sown edge which should be standard on all high quality Bibles. The only real negative is the small reference and concordance print. The edge printing was a little cluttered with ESV symbol, English Standard version and Crossway name and 4 squares on bottom. Still an excellent high quality Bible. Bible well worth the cost.

I’ve had my Omega for a couple of months now and it has become by far, my favorite bible. I was initially drawn to purchase it as I felt the price point would make it a great everyday bible that I wouldn’t care about getting a little beat up. But that thought changed as soon as I opened it. The price makes it the best deal out there on a high end bible as it equals the quality of any other brand out there. It is an exceptionally well produced product and i am hopeful that this would lead to Crossway making a larger offering in the high end bible market. This is a bible that I truly enjoy and am more and more impressed with every-time I read through it. I own many Cambridge and several Allan bibles and the Omega is certainly in like company with them. I’d add a 6th star as possible!

I ordered my bible on Wednesday and received it on Saturday. That is fast service! The bible is beautiful, with smooth white paper, nice print (although the references are very small). The leather is supple. I was surprised at how compact and light this bible was compared to an NIV Cambridge goatskin that I own. This is a bible you can use for a lifetime.

Crossway Omega Goatskin Thin line Reference – Limited edition
Crossway Publishing Company of Wheaton, Illinois and EvangelicalBible.com teamed up to design and develop the ESV Omega Reference bible in celebration of Crossway’s 75th Anniversary. They used Crossway’s recently released Large Print Thin line Reference bible as its base. This newly designed text block removed the potential distraction references that are usually placed between the two columns to the bottom of each page. Even though the text block measures 9.0 x 6.0 inch text block, the bible seems wider because the placement of the reference.
Once Crossway decided on the text block, they went to world renowned Jongboed of the Netherlands to print and bind this limited edition reference bible using premium materials. Jongboed has been the secret behind the outstanding Cambridge bibles over the past several years. They decided to use a goatskin leather cover with leather linings, a high quality Bible paper, Smyth Sewn binding, Overcast Stitching and a black print text (not a red letter edition). Using all these premium ingredients, Jongboed produced the gorgeous ESV Omega bible. I was stunned when I opened the box. I starred at disbelief. I was convinced that only R.L. Allan could produce a bible with this type of quality, However, I was mistaken Jongboed of the Netherlands is serving notice to all of the bible lovers that it can produce a premium bible and that they have close gap a bit between them and R. L. Allan. After using the bible a long side my Allan ESV reader for a day or two and I did discover one short coming but nothing that could not be corrected. The ribbons are thin and uneven; I replaced them with two cardinal red statin 3/8 inch ones (to match the red and yellow head & tail bands) this now makes the Omega to look like an Allan at first glance.
    Exterior:
The goatskin leather is smoother thicker and a bit stiffer than the Highland Goatskin on my Allan ESV Reader, however, it about the same thickness as my Allan NASB Reader. The goatskin looks very similar to my Cambridge goatskins bibles with a wider yapp.
    Interior:
The paper is high quality Bible paper with reddish/brown under gold art gilt edging (not as deep red as Allan’s edging). The art gilt edging matches my Cambridge bibles. The 10 point font is thin but easy for my 40 year old plus eyes. The Line Matching limits ghosting (bleed though), and is great for underlining or highlighting.
    Overall:
Crossway ESV Omega Reference is a great value at $157.00 and ranks second only to the Allan ESV Reader. I would describe this as an “upgraded” Cambridge bible with leather lining. The Omega bible is a beautifully hand crafted portable bible that has become one of my favorites. I gave the Omega bible a 5 star rating once I replaced the ribbons.

Holy Cow. What a Bible. Honestly, the happiest I have ever been with a Bible purchase. Leather is near perfect for my tastes. It is a bit thicker than Allan’s normal leather, so it supports the text block very nicely. Makes it perfect for holding in your hand. But it is still super flexible. The thinness of this Bible is remarkable. It feels perfect. The text is just the right size. Does not make you feel like they tried to maximize every square mm but is still big enough for pulpit use. Moving the references to the corner is genius, and should be tried on other editions. Would love to see something the size of a pitt minion in this kind of format. Paper is very good for a Bible this thin. Remarkable in fact. The thinness does have the trade-off of a large footprint, but it is worth it. Ribbons are not the best, but that is being nit picky on what is an otherwise flawless Bible.

This Bible is a bargain at $157. I ordered an Allan ESV1, Cambridge Clarion, Pitt Minion, and Schuyler NKJV as well as this one in about at 3 month period. Of the premium Bibles, this one hits hard on the most areas. It is the thinnest of the premiums (except for the Pitt, which is a compact edition). It’s leather is thicker and more substantial than the Allan. Although, Schuyler has the most elegant goatskin, the Omega’s goatskin makes me confident to take it with me out and about. Also, I decided to get the Omega for my brother for his birthday after choosing between all I’d purchased. I wanted to get him one that is highly readable (large print, references tucked in bottom right, not center), easily portable, and premium to last a lifetime. The only things I would change about it are the spine print is too busy, I could have done with out a couple of the items they printed on the spine. Less is more, my opinion. And the ribbons are rather thin, the Allan ribbons are the best. However, ribbons are low on my list of what makes a Bible great to use. Once again…this is the thinnest and most practical of the premium Bibles I own. Even the Clarion having a small footprint is a bit thick and floppy with super thin pages rendering it not very portable. $157 is more than a fair price in my opinion. The Word of God deserves printings this premium.

Very nicely done by Crossway. This is my first goatskin Bible and you can tell the difference from other bindings. The text is a readable font and I like the layout with text columns and references at the bottom right of each page. However, the references are fairly small and harder for my aging eyes to read. In addition, there is some ghosting, but less than many others I have seen. But those are the sacrifices of a thinline that is easy to carry around. I am very happy with my purchase.

I was very pleased with my Crossway Omega. I admit that I had some reservations about paying so much for a Crossway, but those reservations were put to rest when I took this out of the box. The binding on this Crossway is first class. The print is easy to read, the font size accommodates my eyesight very nicely and the paper quality is outstanding. In my opinion, this compares quite favorably to an Allan Personal Reference ESV which I previously owned. This Crossway is a pleasure to hold and use. All in all, I would recommend this Bible highly.

  14. Robert Gall (verified owner)

I just received this beautiful Bible. First the ESV text is easy to read. Second, the quality of the goatskin is amazing. It’s supple right out of the box. When I preach, I tend to be a Bible folder, and this one doesn’t fold as easily some others, but that’s fine.

This will now be my preaching Bible, and I’m looking forward to years of service with this new friend.

First off, I love the ESV Version!! Hand’s down is my first choice to read and study. I honestly didn’t know what to expect out of this Bible when I ordered it. I knew it was from Crossway so I didn’t expect the details to be covered like an Allan or a Cambridge… boy was I wrong! This thing is awesome!! Thanks evangelicalbible.com for offering us top of the line products! Highly recommend this one!

This is a wonderful, high quality Bible. The materials and construction are amazing – almost as good as an Allan. The form factor is a delight, and the font size, readability, column formatting, and overall feel is wonderful. The only ESV which I might prefer is my Allan Reader’s edition – which I notice is often out of print. This is just as readable, if not more so due to the outstanding column layout, but only lacks extra margin space for note taking. Also, there is nothing quite like the feel of a full yapp Allan but this comes mighty close. Thank you for such an excellent product.

I love my Omega, Leather grain reminds me of the Schuyler Bible Grain, both bound by Jongbloed so no surprise. Like everyone else ribbon quality only issue, mine was fraying out of the box, put a match to it, fixed everything. You would think that detail would be better, that said hands down my new favorite. The Leather grain, leather lining, binding plus the inline printing and font size 10pt. on a thin-line is just Great. Love It.

Well the Omega arrived today. I have to say I’m very happy with this one. Firstly, this does very much remind me of my Jongloed bound Allan NASB. It’s stiffer than a London bound Allan but has a nice natural grain to the goatskin. The size is something I have looked for for a while in a quality binding and the paper is very thin but surprisingly opaque. The line matching is awesome and print stands out nicely on very white pages. It’s so nice to recieve a preorder and not be totally disappointed. The only fault I can find is the ribbon choice but I did expect it and it wasn’t a deal breaker for me. Well done Crossway. This is a steal while supplies last guys.

  20. Phillip Howle (verified owner)

This is just a great Bible is so many ways. The cover is a thick deep grained goatskin with leather lining. It is semi-yapp and the binding is solid. It is a little tight off the bat, but should break in nicely. The Bible just feels solidly constructed in your hand. The layout is the best ESV layout you can get in a double column. The line matching, column width, nice font size and paper make it easy to read, study, or preach from. I have have used the Large Print Thinline in Top Grain since it came out. Sure, some might want nicer ribbons, but come on they are ribbons and they do the job adequately. There is just not much to not like about this Bible.
