Description

Extremely popular with KJV scholars, the Concord Wide-Margin Bible features wide margins all around the text for verse-by-verse annotations, as well as cross-references, a glossary, concordance, 15 color maps, and the Translators’ Preface. The Bible text features pronunciation marks and has the distinctive Cambridge bold-figure cross-references. The paper is slightly heavier than in the regular Concord to allow for note-taking and has gilt edges. This Bible is bound in black calf split leather, a new binding style for this edition. Great sized bible with ample wide margin space for writing notes aside the text. Paper quality is very good with hardly any see through. The calf split cover is very well made, tight corners and nicely done paste down. The Bible is also very supple and opens very wide, to almost completely flat. Nice gold gilding on the pages and the ribbons are nice quality. The text block is very readable, bold print, and the are several pages of lined paper in the back. Great Bible for a great price!

Just recieved this exquisite Bible in the mail today, and wow what a great investment! I am so delighted with the beautiful leather, the gorgeous readable type setting, and the smooth and opaque paper; Cambridge is such an amazing Bible maker. I look so forward to owning this piece of art for many years to come. Praise God for this delightful gift!

Four months have gone by and this wide margin Concord in calf split is still holding up extremely well with the use of highlighters and Sakura Microns. The paper being 38 grams is sufficient and if you were to compare the wide margin paper to the regular sized Concord you will see that the thicker wide margin paper is truly better in ways of opacity, texture, and writing adherence.
A lot of the now 28 gram paper that seem to be much in vogue lately which boasts high opacity for its thinness is really not better than the slightly thicker wide margin paper. Upon comparison there is still more show through in the 28 gram versus the 38 gram paper.
The calf spit is an under dog of cover types if you will. It has a smooth textured surface and a grain pattern that is simply beautiful than a plain calfskin hide or the best goatskin. Nothing looks quite like it and that alone makes a calf split note worthy for its looks.
The cardstock pastedown board makes the cover rigid and tough. One, it feels like it could survive a tornado. Second, it would make for a great deterrent against street muggers and sewer rats. Absolutely a great cover.
Last but never least is the print work in this bible. Dark. Very black ink. Combine it with line matching and you’ve got a very readable text. The font is around 8.5 but sometimes may seem to read at 8.75. The font or entire text is going to be a point smaller than the text in the regular Concord but more legible I believe in the wide margin.
Do I recommend this? Is the pope catholic? You betcha I do with two thumbs way up served with a dazzling side of five stars. Great job Royal Jongbloed and Cambridge. And great work on the part of evangelicalbible for helping all of us receive the word of God in all forms of bibles he blesses us with.
