This being my 6th Schuyler bible, this one is definitely my favourite, they just keep getting better and better! super grateful for the beloved Apocrypha edition. At first I was worried about not liking the crimson red colour too much but it turned to be nice and deep, the calfskin leather smells absolutely amazing! Besides the awesome ESV one of the things that makes this crimson bible great; is it’s colour, it’s easily noticeable on average dark leather sectionals, dark furniture, your bible is never forgotten, camouflaged, stands out as it should, like one who deserves attention! It’s detail is unmatched, I love the ultra detailed drop caps, typography and design. Beth & Karen are some of the best at replying to emails and are very knowledgeable about the company’s history, Schuyler is an amazing company destined to be iconic americana like Levi’s or Coca-Cola. If you’re considering buying ‘that’ specific bible; do it before they’re gone and they go quickly!
    God Bless All the way!

This is the post-1965 edition given an Imprimatur by the Cardinal Richard Cushing, Archbishop of Boston and approved by Pope Paul VI. The Schuyler edition does not indicate any Catholic hierarchal endorsement like its RSV with the Apocrypha counterpart published by Oxford University Press (1965 & 1973 editions). The RSV was also the previously approvec lectionary for the Roman Catholic Latin Mass from 1964 until 1969. Unlike the 1965 & 1973 Oxford University press edition, the Schuyler edition does NOT contains liberal Modernist commentary. The RSV does NOT contain inclusive language.

This is my first bible from Schuyler and it is beautiful in every way. I never thought I’d get a red bible, but now that I have it in my possession, I think I made the right choice . The red coupled with the aesthetic design choices makes me feel like I have my own personal altar book.
I don’t have first hand experience with the differences with any older Quentels (apparently this has a slightly different layout, paper, font size, and drop caps), but as far as I’m concerned, I got my first Schuyler bible at a great time. I love all the design choices. The only thing that might be better is a Personal Size ESV Quentel with Apocrypha.
I’m not familiar with the calfskin Schuyler uses either, but this one is quite supple. It’s more flexible than a Cambridge Cameo I have at least (that could also be due to the calfskin liner in this along with size of the Quentel). It feels like it’s somewhere in between the floppiness of goatskin and the firmness of calfskin bibles that I’ve had experience with.

I received my red calfskin ESV today, which is my favorite of all my Schuyler Bibles. It is beautiful—a masterpiece. The red is rich. The cornerwork is excellent. The drop caps are ornate. The ghosting is minimal. The size is perfect. I honestly am deeply impressed. As an Orthodox Christian, I am thankful you published the additional Septuagint texts in the Apocrypha. It is the Bible for me.
