I received my Schuyler Quentel NASB a few days ago and it is absolutely gorgeous! When I decided to go for the dark green I was a little concerned that it might be too green (because pictures on the Internet can often be slightly misleading), but I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box… this green is beautiful.

I have a Crossway Heirloom wide margin Bible in deep brown that was my first premium purchase, and it has been a great companion; but when I looked into Schuyler the one thing that sold me (aside from the craftsmanship) was how they do the reference notations and chapter divisions in red so that they are easily distinguished. This makes Bible study just that much easier (even though I have Logos as a reference tool)!

Might have to buy one for my wife!

I recently received one of the best Christmas presents I have ever been blessed with: a Schuyler Quentel Bible in the NASB version. My copy has a dark green goatskin leather cover. The first thing that I noticed was how soft and supple the leather of the cover was. It is a very dark forest green color, and is leather lined with chocolate brown leather. The Jerusalem Cross is stamped on the front cover, and the spine has “Holy Bible”, “New American Standard”, and “Schuyler” stamped on in gold. The combination of green and gold is beautiful and very eye-catching. The spine has six raised hubs, and the inside cover is edge lined. The cover has perimeter stitching, and the sides of the pages have a gorgeous red under gold art gilt. This means that when the Bible is closed, the sides of the pages look gold, but when the Bible is open, they look red.

Although the cover is an heirloom treasure in itself, and one that I could hold all day, it is the inside that really impressed me! The text is the most readable Bible text that I have had the pleasure to read. It is a bold 11 point font that is line matched. The chapter numbers are in red, so they stand out to help you keep your place and easily find the chapter you are searching for. The paper is 28 GSM, so it keeps the Bible a little thinner, but because it is line matched, I have not noticed bleed through. It includes three ribbons that are golden colored. This Bible is a black letter text, which I prefer for readability. The references are extensive, and make this a Bible that is not only perfect for reading, but also for studying. It also includes a concordance and twelve maps printed on Bible paper, as opposed to the usual glossy paper.

At first, I noticed some knicks/marks on the cover, and I was worried, but I have since come to understand that each Schuyler Bible is hand made and unique. They are special in that regard, and that only made me appreciate this Bible more once I understood that. They are printed and bound in the Netherlands by Royal Jongbloed, so it is a very high quality Bible. It is not the heaviest Bible that I have seen, so it could be used to carry to church, but this is a Bible that I will be using to read and study from at home.

I cannot say enough about this Bible! All of the features that I have mentioned really enhance the reading experience, and make this Bible a joy to explore. It is a true heirloom that I will be enjoying for years to come, before passing it on to my daughter.
